Kobe Bryant should win it people didn't like him, but started kinda like him or like to watch him
Steve Nash, Allen Iverson is up there somewhere..
it all depends on if Lakers wins about 50+Wins 2/1/2006 10:50:35 AM |

Kobe shouldn't get it because the Lakers might not make the playoffs. I hate Duke as much as anyone but I think Elton Brand should get considerable consideration. 2/1/2006 11:03:03 AM |

the lakers are going to make the playoffs and last night in Madison Square Garden home of the knicks and the "Mecca" of the basketball world everyone was chanting MVP!! MVP!! MVP!!
i didnt hear those chants when elton brand was in the garden
its kobe, then nash, then billups 2/1/2006 11:17:25 AM |

^Yeah because the fans decide the MVP.
Scoring isn't everything. It's leading your team to victories.
Of course nobody is gonna chant Elton Brand when his team is never on TV. Kobe is on ESPN every night just because of his 81 point game.
Also what about Chauncey Billups? I mean he is the BEST PLAYER on the BEST TEAM. That is who it usually goes to. 2/1/2006 11:23:13 AM |

Dude come on. Do you really think Kobe deserves it? I mean if I had a vote I would split it between the 5 Pistons starters. I mean some of the analysts like Greg Anthony are saying this could be the best NBA team ever. I guess it doesn't matter to you if you are on a good team or not? And did you watch the game between the Lakers and the Pistons the other night? How did Kobe do? 2/1/2006 11:41:23 AM |

Kobe had 39 points and 6 boards, and since because of his 50 point games, his 62 in 3 quarters against the best team in the west right now the mavs and his 81 point game: a 39 point game doesnt look so good 2/1/2006 11:44:57 AM |

^^How many shots did he take fool? Did his team win? Have you seen Kobe D somebody up like Chauncey does? Chauncey has a ring without Shaq's assistance, Kobe will never have that. Billups will likely get another this year.
^Thank you for being informed. Billups or Brand.

my point is this: the MVP goes to the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER in the NBA to his team. I just dont believe that you can subsitute any other player in league for kobe on the lakers and the lakers still make the playoffs.
right now they are fighting for the sixth spot in the west, hell they would be first in the atlantic division in the east and the third seed in the eastern conference 2/1/2006 11:50:52 AM |

i think billups is good, but benefits greatly from the awesome array of talent around him, i.e. it makes it easier for him to score, get assists...
nash makes everyone on his team that much better, everyone attributed a lot of that to amare stoudimire last year, but he has been hurt so far this season and nash is still getting straight nashty
kobe is far and away the best player on his team and maybe in the league, he is a scoring machine, and as far as the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER is concerned he is definitely that for his team, and the league 2/1/2006 11:52:35 AM |

I cant believe anyone is even arguing this.
Its so obvious its Kobe its not even funny.
He is taking a shitty team and has almost made them title contenders.
You take Chauncey Billups off that team and they still win 50 games. 2/1/2006 1:22:07 PM |

Quote : | "My MVP standings at the halfway mark:
10. Chris Paul -- It should probably be Garnett here, but this is my list and Paul deserves mention.
9. Gilbert Arenas -- Poor man's Kobe.
8. Tim Duncan -- Seems about right.
7. Elton Brand -- Should be higher, but this year's race is stacked.
6. LeBron James -- Change a few of his late-game performances and he's right at the top.
5. Chauncey Billups -- The de facto representative of the Pistons Starting Five.
4. Steve Nash -- Watching him shamelessly (and frequently) bring out the "old man at the Y, whirling left-handed circus layup" is indescribably awesome, almost as if he's channeling late '50s Bob Cousy. Plus, he's the best pg in basketball right now.
3. Dirk Nowitzki -- Hard to ignore the 7-foot German dude in the room.
2. Allen Iverson -- The most remarkable athlete in team sports.
1. Kobe Bryant -- He's the best player in the world, has never won before, has a team of scrubs on pace for the playoffs, and has people contemplating whether Wilt's century mark is no longer sacred. I think he's earned it." |

he's right, because he agrees with me
the talent around billups is part of what makes him as good as he has been this season
pistons are THE BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE, bar none, and being their point guard, billups thrives and looks good

I tried making the "most valuable to his team" argument in regards to the NL mvp in baseball with Pujols and Jones and got freaking run out of the message board for doing so. They call it the MVP but it always go to whoever they think is the best player. I think Kobe has to be the front runner because what he has done has been amazing, like him or not. But to me the others who deserve some strong consideration are Brand, Lebron, Billups, and Nash (in no particular order). Too bad Brand plays in the worst organization in the NBA. I cant think of another guy who has been as consistently good as he has since his first game but basically gets no pub. He is a career 20 and 10 guy. 2/1/2006 1:32:43 PM |

Kobe Bryant is clearly the MVP. If you don't understand that, you don't understand the NBA. Yes, Brand is having an amazing season and Nash and Billups are being their consistently great selves, but those guys don't even compare to what Kobe is doing this season. 2/1/2006 2:22:42 PM |

Of course at this point Kobe is the MVP. I really don't get how anyone can NOT think that. It's simply a case of people letting emotion cloud their decision. They don't like him because they think he ran Shaq out and raped some chick.. plain and simple.. 2/1/2006 2:24:52 PM |
