My professor will not accept hospital records to excuse my absences, she wants proper documentation from Student Development "or some other university department." Where am I supposed to take my hospital papers to have someone write me an OFFICIAL document? I searched for the office of Student Development but I could not find an office room # or phone #. Any ideas? PLEASE HELP! 2/1/2006 3:10:59 PM |

Oh, she's alright, very sympathetic that I was in the hospital, but unlike my other 7 professors, will not take the note that Rex wrote saying where I was and why and for how long, etc. She won't let me make up the work until I get the documentation, ASAP. 2/1/2006 3:35:46 PM |

According to the online university policies book, there isn't an official place for this. It only mentions that the university counseling service is the only group authorized to verify deaths. All attendance excuse policies are at the discression of the professor and not some imaginary university office. 2/1/2006 3:52:55 PM |

note != record
ask her precisely whose signature or stamp she wants. if she says "student development" again, tell her you've searched, and no such office exists. she might accept your advisor's signature, although if you have a crappy advisor, that mgiht not work too well.

It used to be Jennifer Bell in Parent and Constituent services and it may still be her.
Try this info:

It's called Parent & Constituent Services- located in Talley Student Center. They are really nice and if your reason is legitimate for missing class it should be an easy transaction. I used them when my sibling passed away-just had to bring in the obit. They write you up an excuse and you give it to your prof. They had quick turn around- had it within a day of submitting the obit. 2/1/2006 8:05:35 PM |

^^^^^ spanish is absolutely horrendous in their absence policy. I mean I understand you can't learn a fl by not being there, but not differentiating btwn excuse and unexcused is bs.

thanks to all, got an OFFICIAL NCSU excuse today from P and C Services. I called them first and still had not heard back so went in person, and they made my note in about 3 hrs. (between dropping off records until someone called to say it was ready) 2/2/2006 2:47:51 PM |
