since i am one of the people who constantly feel like the refs have it in for us
i will come out and say that tonight's game was, overall, well officiated
we almost lost and the refs had essentially no fault 2/1/2006 10:18:46 PM |

Yeah, they were pretty good. There were some questionable calls, but nothing blatantly bad. 2/1/2006 10:20:28 PM |

They were pretty good for the most part...had a few bad streaks, but that is to be expected.
They did miss a horrible hold/foul/raping while Cam was trying to post up before he made that putback of his own shot. That was the worst of the game though, and it ended up working in our favor cause the guy overplayed cam and he got his own rebound. 2/1/2006 10:26:14 PM |

I will chime in and compliment the refs on a great game
However, w/ like about a minute to go, Singletary drove and somehow fell all down under the basket and all that was whistled was "out of bounds on Virginia"
I couldn't see from 313 exactly, but I felt we got away w/ a no call, but he may have just slipped down...either way, gg refs 2/1/2006 11:21:56 PM |

The officiating was even, it was however poor on both ends. But I will take even. 2/1/2006 11:30:07 PM |

yea thats how i felt. usually they call too much ticky tack stuff, but i thought they let em play a little too much tonight. but at least it was relatively even. 2/1/2006 11:31:48 PM |

Did anybody see that un-called foul at the end of the Duke/BC game? Sheldon Willaims fouled the BC guy at the basket with 7 secs left. 2/1/2006 11:37:06 PM |

^yes, but it is nothing unusual. Its just Duke, its the same reason that they wont win the National Championship this year. They wont get those calls in the tourney. 2/1/2006 11:38:58 PM |

yeah that was a rediculous no call
BC shouldve won that game which wouldve been great for us
Duke made more free throws then BC took 2/2/2006 12:49:42 AM |

There was one awful no call where a Virginia player (dont recall who) stepped out of bounds to get the ball, stepped back in and took and made a shot. Missing fouls is one thing, but theres a freaking line on the floor that makes this call very easy to make. 2/2/2006 6:50:32 AM |

Not sure if I agree. Duke got the call with less than 10 seconds left, but BC got a whole lot of calls prior to help them get back into the game. Redick's offensive foul when the BC player's feet were shuffling was questionable, especially since he made the shot. Plus there were a lot of questionable turnover calls that I saw that helped BC come back from the 15 point second half defecit to make it close. The ACC officials definitely wanted it to be a close game.
Let me add that I am not a Duke apologist. I pull for Duke in football, but because I want to see them get better. Especially since we only play them twice every six years now. I would love to see them reliably beat UNC on the gridiron. I have no ties to Duke. My brother almost went there, but instead chose Walmart Nation.... This also gives me reason to cheer for Duke when they play UNC in any sport.... I've been a State fan since I can remember (I was 3).

UMMMM NO. We need Duke as sad as it is to beat up on everybody and make finishing 2nd easier. Duke would have to lose 3 games and we would have to win out to catch them.2/2/2006 4:09:57 PM |

Yeah im pretty sure if duke had lossed that game it would have hurt us. B/c we are playing for 2nd. If Duke had a return trip to raleigh, I would then say it probably would of helped us. Duke is not going to lose 3 game and us win out. 2/2/2006 4:19:33 PM |

making or missing the shot has nothing to do with it - nor does shuffling the feet.
a player control foul can be called regardless of the defense having their feet set.2/2/2006 4:41:17 PM |

^I've never seen a player out of control be called for a foul for a team playing against us. Damn Seton Hall did it 30 times where they would just run and trip into the lane sprawled out and fall into our guys and we get called for the foul. UVA did it a few times last night, and Hale/Gray did it a few times for wake. If anything, we get called for the foul instead of the offensive player that is out of control.
I wont make a comment about it happening for other teams because I dont pay as close attention to those games, but I'm sure it happens all over the place, and that shit needs to stop. That is one horrible way to get a foul called against your team when you've played good enough D to force the stupid move. 2/2/2006 5:14:00 PM |

while it is rare since he is the only NFL official who does college basketball, it is not rare in the sense that a lot of refs officiate multiple sports. 3/19/2014 11:08:20 AM |
