I just watched that movie last night, and it was fucking creepy... How does the more recent Amityville stack up to it? (I haven't seen it yet)

well i thought the remake was better, but i also thought the original was kinda boring....the original kept to the book more though, so its hard to say how you might like it. its worth a watch if you are a fan of the story

new one is decent until the last half hour or so. id give it a shot.

I liked the old one better. It was more creepy whereas the new one had a bunch more "sudden loud sound/something jumps out" moments.

I thought the new one was pretty formulaic and not very scary. And it pissed me off that it's supposed to take place in the 70's but the babysitter is wearing low-rise pants, which everybody knows weren't invented until the 90s.

haven't seen the old one though.

yea i didnt think the new one was GOOD, but i liked it better than the original. the original did have more of a creepiness factor, but i also felt it had more of boring factor.

i thought the old one was kinda dumb and fake and yes, i did many years before the new one. It wasnt that bad but definately not one of the best of that era.

I thought the old one was dull. and I generally like horror/suspense movies. haven't seen the new one.

I hated the ending also.

the only thing that ever made it remotely appealing to me was the fact that it was supposedly a true story, but since now i know that the "true story" was just a ploy by some poor people to make some sweet mulah with uncle rico, fuck the movie.
