Just thought of something... You know how all these liberals keep claiming that if only we would pull our troops out of these foreign occupied countries, that the islamic terrorists wouldn't have any reason to be mad at us anymore... How 9/11 was our fault because of all of our meddling in their affairs? How if we'd just butt-out and mind our own business, we'd be so much better off?

Yea i think we can put those ideas safely to rest now, with the violence that muslims have reacted with to a purely domestic cartoon in denmark that wasn't published in their own country.

Pulling out will not pacify them.

ok thats like saying that all conservatives are defined by the most fringe in your ideology..... Sheehan may have some decent arguements sometimes... but most of the time noone except conservative talk show hosts give her that much credit. and she is given that only b/c they know that she is easy pickings when it comes to her antics. god forbid they take on someone how is left but more centrist.

ok here we go again dodging the point.

IF YOU'VE EVER BELIEVED THAT 9/11 WAS OUR FAULT OR THAT A BETTER WAY TO RESPOND TO TERRORISM IS TO LEAVE THE MIDDLE EAST ALONE, THEN THIS THREAD IS FOR YOU.

just leaving is not gonna solve the problem

besides, most arabs hate the american goverment because of its support of israel, not because of the presence of american troops in Saudi Arabia .. etc (ofcourses iraq is a warzone so its different)

PLEASE TELL ME, HOW MUCH MILITARY AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT DOES DENMARK PROVIDE TO ISRAEL?

something tells me that eliminating our support for israel won't solve anything either

it has less to do with danish support of isreal than there vague association with us. they arent truly hated, im sure most of the protestors, are blaming the US and GB by extension.

Would this cartoon craziness have happened back in 2000?

I don't think so... but perhaps

many of our policies (admittedly, going back way before Bush II) are viewed by much of the world as a type of colonialism

however, our current war has stirred up a lot of anger
especially among disenfranchised and unemployed Muslim youth

Obviously pulling out won't pacify them you fucking mongrel but staying in there isn't going to net us a god damn thing either.

The Equation here:

Stay and lose more troops and money until we eventually pull out and let Iraq disintegrate along with everything around it and pray for some sort of order.

OR

Pull out now and let Iraq disintegrate along with everything around it and pray for some sort of order.

Which brings us to small fact that Saddam in power kept the region balanced.

Two people who were involved in the publishing of The Satanic Verses in 1988 were killed, a third survived a stabbing. Theres still a $3 million bounty on Salman Rushdie.
