what's the deal with the new england area fans and 'Sweet Caroline'? when did that become a sporting event song? 2/8/2006 10:44:12 PM |

wow, thats the sickest week ive seen since last years godly acc. all on the road thats just not fair. saying uconn is about to hit the meat of the of schedule would be an understatement since zags gtown and pitt are the good teams theyve played so far.
and depauls in the big east? damn its like i discover a new big east team everyday . funny how thethe big east goes all the way to chicago which is considered west in the nhl. 2/9/2006 12:58:01 AM |

Haha. About this time this thread was made they went from looking like a youth league team to a NBA team in a span of :30... gg on the anti-jinx .. I appreciate it.

haha I know. The story is quite boring actually. The old Red Sox 'DJ' liked the song so she started playing it a few years back after the 7th inning in games the Sox were winning. Well they didn't lose a game for 12 days after they started it so the fans sent swarms of letters in to make it a mainstay between the 7th and 8th innings. Now everyone sings along (no homo) to it at Fenway. If it's good enough for Fenway Park and the Red Sox it's good enough for any other team in New England is the long and short of it.
p.s. - Fenway Park is holding a Boston College hockey game. That should be cool as hell to see the setup they are going to have..
^ it's really not all that different then BC being in the ACC mileage wise. Personally I wish it went back to PRE-expansion days (this means PRE-Virginia Tech in the Big East to me). When the Big East played typical bruising games and the ACC was still the ACC for basketball..
EDIT: One more thought. With all the overhype talk (and anything less of him turning into Michael Jordan and he will STILL be overhyped) Rudy Gay is maturing into a star more and more every game. Remember he JUST turned 19 but he has looked like a star the last 5-6 games. Which is bad news for everyone else. It's pretty much destined to be Duke-UConn... AGAIN.

I disagree, I think Duke is a borderline final four team, and I'd predict them to go out in the elite 8... (maybe even sweet 16 if they get a tough matchup)
UConn is most likely winning it all, thats been obvious since day 1.

^ I agree on UConn. They have way too much talent to not win it all. I think Villanova could make a run too with all of their talent. I think Duke will get knocked off in the tourny by someone who employs what Georgetown did - stop Sheldon first, let JJ get his points, and constantly attack against their agressive D.

wow NyM I knew that the Red Sox played it during the 7th inning stretch, but I didn't know why. when I went up to Boston for the BC game, they played it as well, and it was just funny seeing all of their student section singing it. "Sweet Caroline....bump bump bump" 2/9/2006 10:51:47 AM |
