Is it actually worth it to buy a $200 warranty for a HDTV? Do these TVs actually have documented problems that would justify a warranty?

are you talking about the service plans that best buy sells??

if so.. then yes.. they usually cover the cost of new lamps within the first few years, any initial defects in the tv, etc.. hell if the lamp dies 3 times in 1 year.. with the plan, they'll replace the whole tv free of charge.

if its just a directview CRT HDTV, then probably not.. but with projection HDTV.. there are so many things that can go wrong.. that the $200 is well worth it.

This is just a regular HDTV - 30' Phillips - that I would like to purchase. Does anyone have a warranty for a CRT HDTV and have used it? How is the manufacturer warranty for a TV like this?

Projection: Yes. LCD, CRT? Probably not.
