I can't log into the router (192.168.1.1) on the main PC its hook up to. I have tried resetting and unplugging the router many times.

The lights (power, internet, and LAN light) flash erractically.

I think the router just shit out on me. Any ideas?

RR internet is hooked up to it, then the internet into the PC. The internet works fine on the PC its hooked to.

So you just can't log into it? but it works fine in terms of giving you an IP adress and connecting to the internet? How about wireless is that working?

To reset the IP address, don't you have to do something special?

Are you sure you're using the right IP?

Yeah, this is something I think everyone should be reminded of (may have nothing to do with the router) but EVERYONE needs to have their routers on a surge protector. I've had my whole network hit by shit that came in over the router because it was on an ineffective surge protector, and I know smoothcrim has too. Didn't kill my pc's but did fry the nic's. If any of them were laptops, it would have been pretty bad.

Wireless solves this, but your router can still get killed by surges. It's funny though, the routers seem MUCH more affected by small power surges than anything else.

just can't log in. It should be picking up the DCHP since the PC is working through the router, so that part is working. It doesn't show up on the wireless list either (even as default). Several other wireless networks show up, so I know its not the wireless card.

I speak the truth.

When I first installed it I thought something was wrong because 192.168.1.1 kept failing. I looked it up and sure enough it was 192.168.15.1.

New. Didn't seem to be returned or anything. You can usually tell with the packaging, and the shrink wrap was definitely not a redo job. I know it wasn't 192.168.1.1 out of the box because I had a bookmark to that address I kept handy for my previous router and the link of course did not work (backed up by manual entry).

Ditto on the .15 being the default ... crazy bastards. Changed it so I wouldn't cuss myself every time I needed to login.

Tried leaving it unplugged for a couple of hours?
Tried plugging it in to a UPS?
Any pattern to the flashing?

Just rapid flashing on the power, LAN and internet light.

It'd be nice if it was at least uniform -- the default for the WRT54G I bought for work was .15 (as were both of the RT31P2s) but the default for the one I bought at the exact same time for home was .1

haven't tried the .15 yet but its weird, when i was trying to 192.168.1.1 the browser would act like it found the address and would just get stuck on it for a couple of minutes before I got a Page not found.
