This isnt really techtalk... If someone sends you an email regarding an ad in which you posted something for sale, but doesnt want to purchase the item. Instead, they send a link to their website and ask you to sell it there, is that considered spam? Anyone have a reference?

spam is often associated with autogenerated, mass-sent email. if you got an email from an individual directly, i wouldn't call it spam. it may be unsolicited and irritating, but it's still just an email

yeah thats spam, why do you need a reference? farming your info from a classified ad is the same as farming it from, say, an email directory.

I replied to the email i received from this guy wanting me to post my stuff on his website, i said "I consider this spam, and I am reporting it as such"

I got this response:

Ben just for your information, when you post publicly, people can respond to you publicaly & legally. My Email is legal according to the law. If you don't like the law then try voting. I don't understand why you think you own the internet and can control everyone on it. You must just be a misirable person. I can't help that.

Hi Ben.. Since you've reported us as spammers we thought we would return the favor for you as well. Congrat's you've been "black listed" and you're email will be blocked by those isp's using the blackhole maintained by these various organizations. Next time just ask to be removed instead of acting like a jerk !!!
Better yet... just stay off the internet altogether if your going to be such a nice guy. We are more than willing to help you in anyway but if your going to run your mouth and be a jerk I'll treat you accordingly. I don't have to put up with you and I won't.

the black hole list... its used to bounce email from spammers.... and i seriously doubt he got your system listed as an open relay or anything like that. he is likely just using words he heard from other people that blocked his spam. i wouldnt sweat it
