Take a course that complements your degree program or at least interests you. You're paying for it. Don't be an idiot who takes classes other people say are easy. 2/26/2006 7:01:18 PM |

ENG 246....lit of the holocaust is what i took (for SZO, but it will work for BUS too)....dr. halpern is hilarious and inciteful. he makes class interesting to attend. all you have to do is write 2 short papers (5 pages) and 1 long one, for the final (10pages) on topics either he gives you or you choose. 2/26/2006 7:07:10 PM |

Eng 242..contemporary world lit 2 is pretty easy...a lot of reading but no hw's. Tests are straight forward and two projects, one annotated bibliography and one essay i think, im it in with D Jones. It seems fairy easy but class is unbelievably boring. 2/27/2006 10:06:53 AM |

Writing a paper & knowing the material for examinations is only hard if its uninteresting...
I recommend ENG 220 Studies in Great Works of Western Literature, I’ve heard &/or experienced good things with the professors who teach this class. It spans a long time period, so there’s no way you can hate it all.
Here is the description from the English department website.
Quote : | " Readings, in English translation, of Western literary masterpieces, from the beginnings of literacy in the Middle East and Europe towards the present, including such authors as Homer, Sophocles, Virgil, Ovid, Augustine, Danta, Machiavelli, Shakespeare, Cervantes, Moliere, Voltaire, Goethe, Austen, Flaubert, Dickinson, Tolstoy, Kafka, and Woolf." |

^ i took ENG 220, had Grimwood, he/class was boring as all hell, but at least all the books were famous so there were always spark notes or you probably read it before. he took attendance and there were short quizzes every week or so, but they weren't very hard (like 10 questions, but he would give about 5 bonus questions, so you could get 150%). there were 3 papers that weren't terribly complex. also a midterm and final, that weren't too bad (final = quotes, multiple choice, and 2 essays). he gave me an A. 2/27/2006 11:11:40 AM |

I had Kellner & the class was great, no quizes, no tests, no final exam... just 1 paper a week with assigned topics (but you could skip up to like 3 weeks that way you focused on topics you like, or don't skip any & get extra credit).
Showing up to class helped with understanding & preparation for writing papers... very low stress since there was never any testing. A friend had a diff prof for the same class and really liked it too. But I guess there are a few bad apple professors too^ 2/27/2006 11:15:21 AM |
