If I'm choosing from my lifetime, there are still many choices....
Gainey for his heart. Playing all 40 minutes of every game in the ACC tourney that year was epic.
Maybe Todd Fuller for being a great student, in addition to being a great player.
Perhaps Googs for being the lone bright spot of actual NBA ability in a dark period.
I might have to go with Hodge, though. He arrived at State the same time as me, and I think really represented our return to, if not our former glory, then at least respectability on a national stage. 3/2/2006 2:51:13 AM |

I grew up watching Fire and Ice, but I mean, I was really young at the time (<10).
Wish I could remember more of them being here. Of course, I didn't bump into (literally) Corch in the concourse last Saturday. 3/2/2006 3:01:04 AM |

i didnt even know ncsu existed til about 95ish, so i have a limited background. having said that, it'd be a toss up between hodge and grundy, probably leanin toward hodge. 3/2/2006 3:34:07 AM |

either archie or grundy or rivers. maybe bennerman just for that beautiful dunk over sheldon and the permanent 'i dont give a fuck' look on his face.
it's a tough call. 3/2/2006 4:39:49 AM |

brian feggins for taking a bullet and coming back and playing ball
tremayne stephens for being a real running back and not some overhyped chump
googs for shaking my hand and being ridiculously cool to me and my sister when we were visiting campus. i was like 12 or so.
justin gainey, anthony grundy, damon thornton, kenny inge, ron kelly, and corndog, who all made my freshman year at state one hell of a ride. 3/2/2006 6:51:47 AM |

I think i was just C.C. Harris, but idk, and he was def. my favorite basketball player!
I think he hit a winning 3 pointer at the buzzer to beat wake at wake, i was there. And I am positive he wasnt behind the line, and the refs gave him the 3 for the 1 point victory! 3/2/2006 10:08:48 AM |

I don't remember what game it was, but it was on R/JP. Home game at Reynolds, of course. The intro was about how overlooked Ishua was. It was really cheesy, though, because it had a few shots of some guy pointing to his eye or something and saying, "I" followed by a shot of a foot stamping into the ground, "Shoe!" followed by a shot of some guy looking puzzled, saying, "Whaaa?"
I don't know why, but I've remembered that ever since. Surely someone else can remember seeing that, too.

Basketball Ball Lorenzo Charles? Kenny Inge...my family has a phrase "Kenny Inge timeout" because whenever he hit the deck and could maybe be hurt he layed there for at least a minute before getting up and being fine. Damon Thorton for dunking over people even if it was a charge half the time CC Harrison because "6'6'' senior CC Harrison" just sounds so cool Curtis Marshall because he had a high top Luke Buffum for coming of the bench and beating duke in the ACC tourney when justin played the whole entire time, and for having a name that spawned many cheers ...ill stop now
Football Jamie Barnett, because he got HIT, HARD, A LOT and still got back up each time till he completed a pass to Torry Holt and gotta show love for Terrence Holt special teams and punk blocks 3/2/2006 4:11:02 PM |

Didn't we sign Mike Bell over Chris Wilcox? I'm pretty sure Wilcox wanted to come to State and we chose Bell.
That's about as bad choosing Cliff Crawford over Steve Blake (Although I fucking hate Steve Blake, he was a baller) 3/2/2006 11:34:32 PM |

Neither was as bad as Matt Doherty taking Jackie Manuel over Julius Hodge
(Although, I think it could have been in part becuase he realized Hodge was NCSU bound.. but at the point they got Manuel, UNC was one of his co-leaders with State)
