Hunt is fun. It’s hard to write papers that have sentences that satisfy him. Either they aren't condensed enough, or they are too simple. Its not hard to make a good grade on his papers, but getting an A+ on one is outside the possibility of a non-English major I think. But his tests and quizzes are predictable enough to be easy. He’s a very sociable professor with plenty of class discussion, rather than lecturing at you.

Kellner is also a good English lit professor. I had him for a Western lit course & it was great.

Also, think about considering the actual content of the class...

No matter how easy the teacher is, it's a lit class and you're going to have to do a bit of reading. I think it would be more important to make sure you're picking a type of lit that you are not going to despise. I was a lit major back in college so I took them all (not here, I'm from MA).

If I had to take a lit class, from my experiences I would like a greek lit class (Antigone, etc), but I would probably want to shoot myself if I had to sit through another early British Lit class (Beowulf, Rime of the Ancient Mariner). Think back on your Intro to Lit class or even your high school english classes. What did you enjoy reading? What did you hate? And yes, you may hate everything (I pretty much did, I had to do the lit major to teach middle school english, but I found it a bit of a waste), but there's probably one type you hate a little less than the others

eng 209 -introduction to shakespeare.

you do about 8 plays - 2 historical, 3 tragedies, 2-3 comedies. in dr blackley's case, you had to go to class and pay attention to the parts he covered, as they are part of papers/ mid terms. you will generally have 2-3 papers and 2 mid terms. the exams cover reference to context, fill in the blanks and one essay type question.

one name: Bob Bateman

whatever he teaches...take it, no lies.

He is easy, interesting and even quite entertaining...just ask him how hard it is to find a good plum in today's world

^ I agree...Bateman is awesome. I had him for major American writers. One easy paper and I think we had two tests. The only key to his class is to take notes from his lectures...because that's all his tests are. You don't even have to read the material.

i recommend hunt's intro to shakespeare. it's annoying to read the plays (he gives an easy multiple choice quiz for each one before you talk about it), but the tests are easy and straight forward (i read the plays and listened in class, and got a 100 and 103 on our exams). we only have 2 papers, and no final. the papers aren't long, and just require you to think a little.

his class cheers me up at the end of a 4-class stretch starting at 8 am.
