i want to preface this by saying i support herb and think he is a good coach and want him to stay. however, i do think that the losses in the past couple weeks are on him. once we hit 21 wins, we reached unfamiliar territory.

generally with our team, it takes until around february for everything to really click. then we're already in the hole a bit, and the pressure is on for us to start winning games to make it into the tournament. then, it's not hard at all to get your team motivated and focused on playing together when they know they have to win to salvage any possibility of post-season play.

i think, based on the last few seasons, herb has just taken it for granted that our guys would play hard when it mattered (now), and hasn't really gotten them pumped up. we let up and took our foot off the gas after we hit 21, and now we're paying for it.

none of this is any excuse, but herb is still the right guy for the job. i don't think he'll make this mistake again if we start out this well in upcoming years, and i don't think motivation will be an issue anymore now that we have reached single-elimination play.

^^Yes correct. We were predicted to come in 4th or 5th by most major publications. Right where we are. Some said we would struggle and not make the tourney w/o Jules. Look at Wake, pre-season 3rd ends up 12th. Fire Prosser? Oh yeah he's leaving for Cincy prolly.

What about winning two games in OT on the road? What about coming back in the last 2 minutes and beating a then hot UVA? What about beating Maryland at home by 4 with Mike Jones nailing 3s at the end?

You folks only point out the coaching when we lose, but never give him any credit when we win.
