My dad did the military, then car salesman/mechanic. There was a while there I could say dude my dad owns a dealership. It was called Goad’s Auto or something like that. But eventually a piece of metal got 1 eye and he basically did janitorial work for the last few years of his work. Then retired & basically works part time when he feels like it at a different car lot owned by someone else on his side of the family with a name that’s something like Goad’s Car lot.

Some family on my dad’s side also has a restaurant in the same town. It hadn’t occurred to me before now how entrepreneurial my dad’s side of the family is. Another guy on that side is a NCSU alum.

My mother went Greensboro, got an MA, and has taught for 30 years this year I think in & around Mt Airy as a special education teacher. I mention her because it was her & her brothers (who went to wake) going to college that started the trend of being college bound that affected me & my twin bro.

I don’t know if my ‘rents ending up working at a family owned car dealership & teaching is all that stand outish, but with only a philosophy degree I’m going to be hard pressed to raise the bar I think. They both seem to do work they enjoy, I hope I can do the same now that I’m graduating this semester and out there job hunting.
