Why is the rhyme scheme in rap retarded nowadays? It seems that in the 80s and early 90s rap was either in ABAB or AABB scheme which seems lyrically correct and sounded good.Nowadays this is what I hear:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.... BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBWhy did this happen? Who started this? And when will it stop?

its not the rhyme scheme thats to blame, its the rhymes and subject matter

its a lot harder to rhyme something 20 times than just 2a whole verse based on one sound is much better than swtiching every couple lines, IMO

you cant sit there and post about 80s and early 90s rap and then site an example from the late 90s
3/9/2006 10:23:40 PM
oh he just did
3/9/2006 10:32:32 PM
seriously though, nowadays there are a lot more rhyme schemes in popular songs which makes it more interesting. ABAB or AABB gets boring.i like things such as AAAAAABBA and whatnot.
3/9/2006 10:59:37 PM
Yeah and what's with the raps that are like:ABCDEFACEEDFGDFECCADEFDCGXLKJLKJ$(@%)%(U:JB":LB
3/9/2006 11:01:27 PM
Internal rhyme scheme has always been more interesting than couplets.

Its called different flows...if everyone rhymed in the ABAB or AABB everyone would sound the same.
