It seems like NC State has had a fair amount of NY/NJ area players in its history, especially lately with Hodge, Grant, and Costner. Our 3 commits Larry Davis, Dennis Horner, and Dan Werner are all from the NY/NJ area. What are some other past State players from this area. Does Herb have a love affair with NY players? It'd be nice to get some of the really good NYC players that can handle the ball well to come here. Plus you never know, mabye it'd increase our popularity. Maybe a DT throwback jersey or State hat might end up in a rap video shot in Brooklyn or Queens. Enough with the damn Jordan throwbacks.

Naw, Best was good, and before Marbury...

I think he's talking about Tony Akins... or maybe Travis Spivey? He was there one year...

Travis Spivey was from Myrtle Beach, SC though...

there was a PG from NYC that went to GT that wasnt good and transferred...

he wasnt ranked as highly as Marbury & Anderson but because he was also from NYC he had some buzz...

He played under Cremins...

Im trying to put together a timeline... probably around 1997. I think he was there the season "A March to Madness" was written.

^ Boom.

I love sports.

It's all coming back to me. He transferred to Georgia State (Lefty Driesell) and they put together a sick ass team and nearly pulled off an upset over Maryland (Lefty's old team) in the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney.

I always liked a lot of Georgia Tech's old players.

They had UNLV all but beat in 1990 with Anderson, Dennis Scott, and Brian Oliver.

People tend to forget about guys like Eddie Elisma, Malcom Mackey, Drew Barrymore, etc

Hey man I liked Drew Barry, he was a much better player than Jon. I never understood how Jon and Brent made it in the NBA and Drew couldn't.

^^Tom Hammonds as well. Hell James Forrest for that matter. He really baffled me when he couldn't make it in the NBA.

oooh james forrest good one, he was a player.

Drew was a lot shorter than the other two guys I think...

and he wasnt deadly from NBA range like Jon.

Brent was on a different level for awhile (although he's just a role player now)... i mean he won a slam dunk contest for gods sake.

GT was always my 2nd favorite in the ACC with Cremins coaching. I always liked their team.

Shaun Fein, Todd fucking Harlicka, Matt Geiger, Martice Moore, Matt Harpring, Ira Newble all the way to Marvin Lewis. I actually liked Tony Akins too. GT was always a very respectable team.

After I think about it, Cremins put a shitload of players in the NBA.

I love the story where Bobby Cremins came into the ACC yearly meeting and started bragging about how he'd found his new point guard the day before and everyone wasnt going to believe this kid.

Then one of the coaches was like "Um, bobby you know last weekend was a dead period, right?"

And he was just like "oh shit" and had to turn himself into the NCAA for a recruiting violation. Wasnt allowed to contact the kid ever again.

Great guy, total bonehead though...

I grew up a fan of most Georgia sports and always liked GT and Cremins until I got to State. Lethel Weapon 3 with Anderson, Scott, and Oliver was probably my favorite college basketball team growing up. People mentioning James Forrest and Malcom Mackey and Drew Barry brings back a ton of memories. James Forrest was blacker than tar

James Collins was #23. I remember he had a SICK dunk on us when we beat them in the play in game.
