I am having the craziest problem with my car's cd player... For some background info, I have a 3 or 4 year old pioneer cd player with four 6.5" Alpine type R's hooked up to it and a 1000 watt amp with two 12" subs.
For some reason, everytime I make a right turn, the music stops playing and the only thing that continues to play is the bass. This happens whether I am listening to the radio or a cd.
I do have stereo controls on my steering wheel, but to my knowledge, they have never been hooked up to my aftermarket cd player... They have never worked, so I assume they were never hooked up.
This started happening after the car wasn't driven for a week during Spring Break...
Any ideas as to why it cuts off only when I make a right turn? It doesn't make any sense...
I have a new cd player on the way because I am tired of this one anyway, but could there be a problem with anything other than the cd player? Any suggestions? Thanks...
Oh yeah... when this happens, I cut the cd player completely off and cut it back on and everything works fine until I make another right turn..

You may wanna check if your wiring harness is snapped all the way in to the back of the HU and check all the connections before buying another CD player. If it is a bad connection you should be able to reproduce the problem by popping it out and wiggling everything. If you can't find a bad connection then it may be time for a new headunit. 3/21/2006 7:22:31 AM |

depending on the car
-it could be the CD player as others have said -could be a loose ground(does it cut off when moving and turning or when just sitting still and rotating the wheel back and forth) if its is while sitting still you can rule this out. -lastly likes others have said it could be a loose wire that is getting tugged when the steering wheel is turned, or a bare wire speaker wire that is touching metal and shorting out the radio(other wires touching metal should cause a fuse to blow and shut everything off including the amp(if you hooked to the amp turn on of the CD player))
So I would say bad cd player or a speaker is grounding out somewhere...... 3/21/2006 10:12:49 AM |

if it was something steering wheel related it would do it sitting still as well.

mine is pioneer as well... in fact, all of my headunits have always been pioneer, but I went ahead and changed things up this time and bought this Sony... it should be here in a few days...

most of them are jokes... but this is pretty much top of the line and I know a few people who really like this particular model (this is the 2005 version)...
my roommate has a sony headunit that is at least 5 years old that works fine... I dunno, I just like the styling and the features, especially the 7 band EQ.... 3/21/2006 3:23:00 PM |

I've got a Sony deck in the Teg...it's been there since '99.
Of course, it's a Mobile ES. CDX7850. Not as cool as my old CDX600DSP, but that got stoled. 3/21/2006 10:49:32 PM |
