Maybe you didn't read this the first time, so I will post again:

-8-38 v. Duke and UNC (worse than any other NCSU coach, even Les)
-Only once higher than a 7 seed
-Only one Sweet 16
-No championships of any kind
-10 or more losses every year
-13-61 against the RPI top 25 (8-26 over the last five "great" years)
-Out of the 17 coaches in ACC history who coached a decade or more, only Herb Sendek and Bill Gibson did not win an ACC regular season or tournament championship or advance to the Elite 8

Again, he has brought the program from the depths to a so-so level. State needs someone else to take it from so-so back to being great.

Yeah we lost in the 1st round of the NIT this year.

We haven't made 5 straight NCAAs now.

We aren't in the top half of the ACC every year now.

Marginally better. We have made the NCAAs with only one S16, we have won no titles, still has a losing record v. the RPI Top 25 and UNC and Duke, and has still finished sub .500 in the ACC in these "great" last five years. Not to mention we still have not had a season with less than double digit losses.

pretty much a longer version of the post that I quoted in my previous post.

consistently losing in the round of 32 or 64. yay we made 1 sweet 16, well guess what? wichita state and george mason can say that too. and one of them will make the elite 8 which herb hasn't been able to do in 10 years. like the other guy said, herb's tenure has reached a flatline over the past 5 years.

Of course some of them would, such as Clemson and FSU, becuase they have no record of success in basketball. Just making the tournament is good enough for them because they have hardly ever done it. It should not be good enough for NC State because that is not up to par with how good our program has been and what has been accomplished.

You just said it yourself man! MARYLAND WON A NATIONAL TITLE IN 2002. Go ask any of their fans if they'd trade places with us.

GT played in the national title game two years ago and will absolutely be kicking our ass next year with the monster recruiting classes they are bringing in.

They are above us right now so that would be a drop-off for them. they finished higher than us in the standings, they beat UNC twice, they are ranked higher, they received a higher seed in the tournament, and they are still playing in the tournament. tell me again why they would take a drop-off to be where we are at?

So, in your mind, winning no titles, consistantly being bounced early in the NCAA Tournament, and having no success against rivals (Sendek's record) is better than winning an NC, winning an ACC Tournament, having success against rivals (UVA and Duke) over a five year stretch?

Maryland may or may not bounce back from their current slump, but bottom line is that they have had a better run over the past five years than Herb because of the titles. Titles mean more than five 20-10 seasons.

Sure people would be pissed if we had a year like GT had this year. But if you have peaks, you can put up with the occasional valley. It's not about just one game or one year - that's what you can't seem to understand.

Hell, even a not great coach like Hewitt who in my opinion did a poor job this year can make the final four. Huge programs with awesome facilities and financial resources like George Mason, Wichita State and Bradley have made as many sweet 16s as we have in the last decade.

Would I take what GT has done over the past 5 years vs. what State has done? Hell yes.

Would I take their team next year over ours? Hell yes.

But I think we can do even better than that. The only thing keeping us from being in the top tier of college bball programs is not having the right coach. I wish people would realize that.
