This may sound dumb, but I've known many people to have subs and sub boxes in their cars..mainly in the trunk/cargo area. I think about getting some, but i was wondering how is the box secured in the car so that it doesn't move around. I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra and it has the new plastic cargo lining, so things tend to slide around much, if it's not strapped down.

i have a sealed box for two 12" subs if you want it for 30 bucks... When I had it in my jeep I secured the box with black bungee cords and it worked fine...

I'm not in raleigh and plus best buy has a deal right now....10"/12" sub & sub box, and amp - $229/249ish

I was just trying to figure out how it would be secured..without bumping around everywhere

almost double that if you want best buy to install... ~$100 for wires and ~60 for install that with an after market CD player. With factory stuff add at least another $40

and better get the 4 year Product Service Plan for a deal like that

NEVER buy those packages. They are like lightning audio or something or some cheap shit from a name brand. You are looking at spending AT LEAST $500(or retail worth) for a quality bumpin' system. Need anybody to install or build a box, I will do it for cheap.

It's actually a rockford fosgate system..so it's not bad at all..the New xterra's luxury line (SE) came with a rockford fosgate system....9 speakers, a sub, cd/mp3 player and Seirus option...but it wasl ike 900 dollars and they don't offer it for the S trim..so I thought the deal that best buy had might be pretty good and it probably sounds alot better too

if you have a plastic or rubber mat just use that yellow poster hanging stuff that will keep it in place and you can peal it up when you are going to rid it off

the whole cargo is made of a plastic material..I'm not going to do it myself anyway..if anything i'll just let best buy/circuit city install it. don't they usually have free installation anyway?

A couple of hook and eye bolts holding it to the cargo hooks in the back works well.

^Lots of people on here install, and do good jobs, for cheap. Good luck with getting jobs with a low post count, being young, and having no people on here to vouch for you.

^that looks like shit. great idea to totally ruin the useable space of a trunk. of course, i would expect to find some shit like that in the trunk of a car that's been ghettoed out with doors like that.

you dont need anything to hold down the box...i had a grand cherokee and i had the amped screwed into the back seat the the box pushed up against it and it NEVER moved...i had 2 ten inch subs in a sealed box

yeah, you don't need to secure it. besides, a 50 pound box hitting you in the back of the head after you rear-end somebody really doesn't hurt that bad.

I had a single 12 in a sealed box and if I turned hard enough it would tumble to the other side of the blazer.

In the blazer though, I had the amp mounted behind a panel and use audio jacks on the sub box and wall to plug it in (the type you would plug a guitar into an amp). This allowed me to remove it easily. Since you have a plastic floor I would buy large strips of velcro and use that on the floor. Then you can still remove it easily.

For insurance/theft.... If a thief breaks in it is better for them to run with the box easily. You really don't need $600 in subs. So your insurance would still cover the amp etc.

I don't use it anymore and should probably sell it. A single 12" sealed box with a Rockford DVC. I used a Phoenix Gold XS2500 to push it and it sounded pretty decent to me.

^^^^are you kidding me... is there anything people on TWW thinks looks good. I did the box, no carpeting and had to work with the speakers and amps he had. He didnt care about trunk space either, and you can easily fit two large duffle bags on each side of the speaker box... I guess you would prefer a stock Dodge Neon

Also flushed in 5 LED's in each mirror that blink with the turn signals. The mirrors fold in and out when you are and disarm the car. You can roll the windows/sunroof up and down with the remote(these are double payned bullet proof glass, so they are heavy and they have to vent so you cant use regular window modules, had so fashion my own with relays and diodes). Blue LED puddle lights when the car is remote started and unlocked, custom mounted blue tooth cell phone controller in the ash tray, 6.5" alpine indash, 6 disc CD changer, XM radio, I-POD, Navigation, and the list goes on.........

Is that carbon fiber you used? or painted fiberglass black? You should have molded fiberglass or carbon fiber all around the trunk area to match the wierd box. It just looks lonely and shitty. Other wise, great shitty job.

^^ yea I shoulda made the car hoover too, but the guy didnt have the money to pay for it so I didnt Its painted fiberglass... and the actual air space in the tire well. I dont see glass work done much better than that... no lumps, no runs, no pin holes, nice smooth and shiny

^already had post a topic about it and theres pretty much nothin left to say
... I dont work for these guys anymore...but they still have my work on their site...http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=381077 if u want to see what everyone else thinks too

So you are using the tire well for the additional airspace and the box is ported up through the rear deck or no?

I'd be interested to hear how that sounds.

My only issue with that, is the carpets don't match at all, not even to each other.

theres a huge hole that goes from the trunk to the interior (kinda of like a hole that you would put your skis through or 2x4's) so I didnt port the box directly into the trunk. The subs fire against a wall and then the air goes straight down into a box built in the spare tire well. So in other words the subs each have their own air space. As far as the carpet goes I hated the carpet also, but that wasnt my deal. Supposedly this was the only automotive carpet that was close. It was supposed to be re-done by a professional upholster, but I havent seen it in a couple weeks. As far as the carpets matching each other, that is just the angle the pictures were taken.

someone please tell me I am seeing things, but do those "amps" not look JUST LIKE decals. This does make sense seeings that in something worth that much you would probably use the same brand if they are going to show like that...

nope ones a crunch, one an alpine, and the subs are audiopipe. 3 way components up front and 6.5" components in the rear. Not what I would have put in there but thats what the guy had to work with... so i went with it... and YES i said CRUNCH and AUDIOPIPE
