what happens/or what can you do if you fail a class that you need to graduate. (Graduating in May). Will they let you walk and then take the class over the summer? 3/24/2006 1:25:38 PM |

When I went to NC State, they had a senior re-examination policy. If you failed a class you needed, and you were a senior, you could take a re-exam in that class, and it would count as your entire course grade. Not sure if they still do that though; contact wolfeee or someone in virtual advising. 3/24/2006 2:04:17 PM |

Hmm...learn something new every day...
http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/academic_affairs/courses_undergrad/REG02.20.14.php
Quote : | "7. REEXAMINATION FOR SENIORS
A reexamination in one course may be granted to a senior under the following conditions:
7.1. that all other degree requirements have been met and the satisfactory completion of that course would make the student eligible for graduation;
7.2. that the course for which the reexamination is requested has been taken not more than twelve months before the intended date of graduation;
7.3. that the office of the dean of the college in which the student is enrolled certifies that the above conditions have been met; and
7.4. that the department offering the course for which the reexamination is requested approves the request.
The reexamination must be based on the total subject matter of the course and must be taken not later than one month after the date of the intended graduation. The only grades which can be given on a reexamination are C (+/-), D (+/-), or F. If the grade received on the reexamination is higher than the original grade on the course, the higher grade will replace the original grade, which will affect the cumulative grade point average. The student may not take a second reexamination under the policy.
Applications for reexamination can be obtained in the office of the dean of each college. The completed application with the new grade indicated must be delivered to the Department of Registration and Records by the instructor and will be used to change the grade on the student's academic record." |

so say I have a junior status but I'm going to take a ton of courses this summer and an average amount next semester so that I can graduate in december. If I fail a course this semester, a free elective, would the reexamination still be a possibility? 3/24/2006 7:19:32 PM |

as long as that dept approves it. i took advantage of this last May for graduation. The prof just gave me the same final exam that we took before and I had a copy of it w. answers and it was "open book and notes". Ended up w. a 92 (missed couple on purpose to not piss him off) ... but still the total grade for the class was C- . 3/24/2006 9:52:58 PM |

Wow, I really find this crazy!
That would probably mad a prof pretty mad, lol
it's a pretty fair deal though...crap happens and I can imagine some random stuff causing a person to just space out when it counts the most...good thing it exists for those situations 3/24/2006 11:51:03 PM |

I would hope that another professor who teaches the same course either provides the exam or at least grades it ... otherwise it seems like the prof could make it rediculously impossible then fail whoever-it-is again. 3/25/2006 4:34:25 PM |
