I get enough sleep (6-8 hours a night) and i exercise several days a week. But I'm still low on energy most of the time, and unable to stay up late (and usually start get tired by 10 or 11).I'm trying not to rely completely on caffeine to get everything done.... suggestions?

Definantely make sure you are getting enough iron.Secondly you may think that 6-8 hours is enough, but for most people they need 8-10 in the early twenties.Lastly the best thing to do is get into a routine and stick with it, even on weekends. As fun and tempting (and enjoyable) that sleeping in is, its best to stay on the same wake up time every day. You really will feel alot better by then.Oh one more thing, are you sleeping when you should be sleeping? ie everyones biological clocks vary and some people are just plain morning people and have to go to bed by 11. Others are more night owls.

thing is, i've always been a night owl. i functioned best going to bed late (around 1 am) and getting up around 9 or 10. but lately it's just shifted further and further back.my diet isn't ideal... by i try to eat small frequent meals (usually a granola bar in the morning, a snack during the midmorning, a cup or noodles or a hot pocket for lunch, and a varied dinner. i'm starting to slip in more veggies and fruits, but i don't get more than 1 or 2 servings every few days. i also take a women's multivitamin with 100% iron daily value and added calcium.i try to avoid high-fat foods (minus the occasional donut) due to stomach problems. i'd love to just guzzle down supplemented smoothies with the rest of campus, but i just can't afford it.

8-10? more like if you're getting 8 and you're too tired, cut back to 6, and increase in 15 minute increments until you find an amount that worksif you have to hit snooze, it's not working

granola bar = nutrigrain barmy problem is that i'm up really early and nonstop from 6:30 am-1 pm. the low fat, non-perishable snacks are just the easiest to carry. today i had a little container of carrots with with. my diet isn't great, but getting whole grains doesn't get much past a bagel sandwich with me. the whole grain pasta i tried SUCKED.

i eat meat. however, it's not a quick meal for me, so it's not as much as i'd like. most of the meat i eat is chicken, since hamburgers make me sick half the time due to fat. but i'm a vegetarian by no means...

well, the problem is that i'm up at 5:30 or 6am on MWF, and going to bed around 11-12 that night. i may not get up until 8:30 or 9 TH, but i'm equally tired, and still tired by 11-12. and on the weekends, i can unintentionally sleep till 11 am or noon, and still be tired by 11 pm.... i know it's at least partially cortisol levels...

There is nothing wrong if you're active to want to turn it in early. From what I've been reading, you're not having low energy. Your energy levels are fine.
