don't buy alcohol for minors.
3/28/2006 2:24:16 AM
Just go to court, if its your first charge for alcohol you can just take some class for 150$ and get it removed, you dont need a lawyer.
3/28/2006 2:31:35 AM
you bring the minor with you??how the hell did that happen?
3/28/2006 2:38:54 AM
nah dude, get a lawyer... there is one that people reccomend on here... not sure of his name, but i've seen it thrown around.how'd you get caught?

James Crouch

If you get a lawyer you won't have to do the class most probably. NC is REALLY cracking down hard on people who buy alcohol for underage people. It's not joke.

You need JAMES SCOTT FARRIN*GONG*

when i took the class most of the other people in the class got a lawyer, and still had to take the classtell them you want to do the first offenders program, if they say no just get a continuance and come back with a lawyeryou dont want to waste your money on a lawyer

How do you get caught "buying" alcohol for a minor?
3/28/2006 11:01:47 AM
it happens all the time and im sure everyone on here who is over 21 has had friends that are 20 and bought alcohol for them, but they all hate on people who get caught.

I've heard stories of cops following people from the ABC store, then the person who is of legal age gets out of the car, leaving the liqour in the car with the minor. The minor starts to drive away and the popo nails em

^something similar happened to someone i know.dude gets the stuff by himself, drives it to his apartment. ALE follows him and parks. he goes inside with the stuff, and awhile later his friend leaves with it and they busted him. i'm not sure of exactly how long it was before he came out, but that's crazy how persistant they were. i wonder how long they would sit there before deciding that it was a legitimate 21+ year old that wanted some damn beer.
3/28/2006 12:27:28 PM
^yea I know like 3 people that have been followed home from the ALE.
3/28/2006 12:34:39 PM
DEA follows me home
3/28/2006 12:56:28 PM
haha i've had them stop me.yes both cases were for me all of my freinds backed me up.the only time i get carded now is at football games [Edited on March 28, 2006 at 1:40 PM. Reason : ]

One time in Gboro, the ALE pulled me and a bunch of girls over on the way back from the ABC store. He asked to see our licences. Luckily we were all over 21, but what kind of charge would he have on us if say one person was under 21? We were still driving back from the damn store!
3/28/2006 2:10:28 PM
i got followed home by the ALE and then i went inside and he knocked on the door, blah blah...so ive been there too, just take the class my lawyer did crap for me....i still had to go to the 90/96 program
3/28/2006 2:27:16 PM
you are only charged if you someone tells them you bought for them, or if they follow you and you don't take possession the whole time. Basically if you go, you need to carry it and keep it with you the whole time if someone with you is under.[Edited on March 28, 2006 at 2:47 PM. Reason : basically if they can prove the crime]

on two seperate occasions in greenville, I've walked out of the food lion with a case of beer and an ALE agent jumps out from behind a car and flashes me his badge and asks for my ID. I was like 22 or 23 at the time so I didn't really give a fuck, but it was still a hassle. I eventually had to be like "listen, I'm not underage. that's my real license." and he stopped examining it and walked away all dejected. his buddy was off to the side making a different group of kids pour out every beer in the case they had just bought. fucking cops.

Greenville is no fucking joke with the alcohol laws sometimes. Other times, they don't give a fuck.I was at a party once, cop knocked on the door and came inside, and was laughing and joking with everyone (90% under 21) as they all kept drinking. He said he didn't care, he was only there about the noise, and he only came because someone had complained (apparently he'd driven by several times, but didn't care. He only stopped because a neighbor called and he had to).
3/28/2006 3:25:34 PM
yeah, the cops in greenville are usually pretty cool. I've met some dicks, but most of the time they'll just give you a warning or tell you to keep it down. But the ALE is a different story. those dudes must write about 2,000 tickets at football tailgating. just about every person I know has gotten one. they're complete dicks. but, I will say that once I turned 21, it was fun to fuck with em.[Edited on March 28, 2006 at 3:40 PM. Hatch Little and Bunn, law office on hillsborough close to downtown, they do a very good job, you might just come out clean.

Pretty much any alcohol charge you can walk away from with a clean record. Your punishment lies in the financial and time costs of doing all the shit required to get it dismissed. The DA will dismiss it if you do all the shit they ask you to. Regardless of what anyone in here says, if you can afford one get a lawyer. The DA might end up cutting you the same deal everyone else gets, but you can sign an appearance waiver and not have to show up for court 3-4 times and spending half a day (the attorney will just go). If your busy this may be in itself worth the money.
3/28/2006 5:43:18 PM
^ oh yeah i forgot about that...my lawyer did go to court for me the 2nd time so i could go on my spring break trip to vegas

do not waste an expungement on an alcohol ticket.no one cares about alcohol tickets
3/28/2006 5:59:16 PM
+1 you dont need to use the expungment for that (the DA will tell you otherwise, which is why lawyers are a good investment)If you do all the other pretrial diversion crap your record will show you were charged and that it was dismissed by the DA. Wait till you get charged with something people would look down upon before using your expungement.
3/28/2006 6:06:24 PM
i would probably get a lawyer if i were youif youre a dumb college kid and you try to be your own lawyer it usually doesnt work out too well
3/28/2006 7:02:38 PM
i plan on using my expungement when i become more serious about jobs
