was it just me or did everything look spanish? i was expecting some full on flamenco to break out at any moment
4/9/2006 12:36:37 AM
just you
4/9/2006 1:50:39 AM
yep, just you.BTW, everyone should come to the AATS Fashion Show April 21st, over at the College of Textiles. It's gonna be an awesome show, as well. (There may be 1 or 2 designers from A2W in the show, but otherwise it's gonna be a whole different lineup!)
4/9/2006 2:27:17 AM
mckoonts, like art, in fashion sometimes you see what you want to see. if you thought you saw some hispanic flare then you probably did. if it was unintentional then so be it, but dont let these other people tell you that you didnt see it. interpret away
4/9/2006 3:06:50 AM
there was one spanish line, but other than that, not really, maybe a few things, but definetly not the whole show imo
4/9/2006 3:18:07 AM
well.... that is what you saw
4/9/2006 3:20:13 AM
uh, if the lines were spanish inspired, they werent spanish inspired. there's no "he saw, she saw" interpretation. Ask the designers where their influence came from.
4/9/2006 3:21:47 AM
ever heard of Rorschach?also, are you telling me there is nothing artistic about fashion?
4/9/2006 3:23:57 AM
Sorry, I meant, if they were, they were. if not, they werent. And yes I have heard of the ink blot psychoanalytical bullshit.Just because YOU *THINK* you see something, does not make it so.Not only that, I'd venture to say that very few people (myself included) could actually accurately tell you what "spanish influenced" clothing looks like. At this point, clothing is so amalgamated, everything uses cues from all over the damn place, or so it seems.Jesus dude, did you even go to the show?
4/9/2006 3:31:32 AM
i definitely did not go to the show, i was making the point that if the guy saw some spanish shit, then he saw some spanish shit. and the fact that you are saying that everything is influenced by everything just makes my point stronger.
4/9/2006 3:35:44 AM
Wow Noen, full of hate today aren't we?
4/9/2006 3:41:19 AM
<---- finally going to bed
4/9/2006 3:42:18 AM
you didn't go, so you have no clue if there's any validity to what he said. And it doesn't give your argument any more strength. It makes it that much more stupid and completely superfluous.^^Not so much[Edited on April 9, 2006 at 3:43 AM. Reason : .]
4/9/2006 3:42:22 AM
but before i actually do go to bed i am going to make some statements and not back them up with any logic. wait, that is you
4/9/2006 3:43:10 AM
4/9/2006 3:43:15 AM
^^Logic:I was at the show.I knew the intentions and origins of most of the lines.I know several of the organizers.I read the descriptions of the lines, saw the clothes, and have a little sense of the basic origins. Conclusion: Most of the stuff there was absolutely not spanish inspired.----------------By your logic, I could say I saw spanish influence in an ice cube. And since I thought it, it's true. When in reality I would just be either delusional, an idiot, or both.[Edited on April 9, 2006 at 3:47 AM. Reason : .]
4/9/2006 3:45:22 AM
<--- was not at the showdont pretend to know anythingsimply arguing your unfounded statementsgoodnight
4/9/2006 3:47:23 AM
lrlildaddy's gone all postmodern on your ass. intent vs. perception. ie, if i see a red apple, it has been perceived as a red apple, regardless of the artist's intent to portray 'blue banana'... i tend to judge the success or failure of a particular work by the clarity of the intent, but that's just me...
of course, if the person perceiving the work does not share the 'language' in which the intent is encoded, then it will not neccessarily be readable to that individual... its an 'inside joke'... 'know your audience', etc... so i'll admit, my fashion lexicon is limited...
anyway, i just noticed a lot of traditional spanish flavor across the board. (sans igloos and such...)
4/9/2006 9:44:42 AM
