Quick synopsis from this morning:

- The Senate had a bad enforcement-only immigration bill passed by the House up for consideration.

- The GOP moderates tried to amend the bill to include a guest worker program. Democrats promised to filibuster the proposed amendments, so the changes were effectively blocked.

- So then the GOP said it would filibuster the whole bill until the amendments were added.

Why'd the Dems promise to filibuster? I know it was to cause the GOP to fight amongst itself, but what reason did the Dems give?

oh this is some shit

bush is now blaming the democrats for the fall-apart of the immigration bill

but this part is i guess - overlooked
