I want to get an XPS so i figured I'd sell what I've got...... (I'll also put it on Craigs list today, hopefully with pics)

Dell Inspiron 6000 (got it mid-august of last year)
Pentium M 1.5 ghz processor
15.4 inch widescreen
60 gb hard drive
512 mb ram
DVD +- RW (Sony DW-D56A) ..... I'lll find the speed later bec. i don;t know it off hand
Windows XP Home (yes legal) and McAfee
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG
Battery Holds Full Charge

there are a few trivial blimishes on the outside case (a few scuffs) but other than that she is in great shape (like i said, I've only had it for 8 months)

I'll try and put up other specs when I get a chance.

Also, I am in Wilmington for the moment but I should be flying back to England at the end of next week. If someone wants this, you will have to be able to take it at the beg. of next week (and yes, I will drive to raleigh)

Sorry, no trades. I want the cash to put forth on the XPS

Same question I always ask: Dedicated or shared video memory, and how much of it is there?

Why does nobody include this stuff in their specs?

a lot of people don't know the difference or that it makes a difference.

Yeah, I know, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I've had to ask that question in almost every single laptop thread here. Somebody might think I have a one-track mind...

yup ^^ I'm not exactly a techie............

i'm not even sure how i would find that out (I think the info on this com is in the original box at my mom's house. I'll have to try and fetch it later.

and I didn't think you were being a jerk.... it's just a question. Sorry I can't answer right away. I'll confess, i don't really know that much about computers.............

No problem. If you have access to the computer, and want to find out, just do this: Start->Settings->Control Panel->Display.
Click on the "adapter" tab, and the specs will be displayed. My guess is that if the card is dedicated, you'll have an ATI Mobility Radeon X300, or something close to that, with 64MB video ram.

if that's something that doen't come 'stock' with Inspiron laptops I probably don't have it, but i'll check.

I didn't see an adaptor tab but hopefully this is right:

Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express chipset
1280x800 res.
Don't see anything about how many Mb or 'dedicated/shared'

If it's from last year, 99.99% chance its using the Integrated Intel Extreme chipset.

BTW dabaker79: I have CivIV and LOVE it. Any ATI x300, x1300 or above in a laptop will play it fine, with 64mb or above. No clue why they put 128minimum on the box. The reason you got weird stuff happening when you tried it on a lesser equipped machine is more likely due to a card without the feature support the game needs, versus the amount of memory.

And if you ever get one, holler at me for some multiplayer

^It's using 32mb dedicated then, I believe.

I'll bid 250

Noen's right. That's integrated.

^Strangely enough, I've got the Inspiron 6000D with the Mobility Radeon card. This is for a friend who got CivIV as a present, but didn't have the hardware to play. We tried it out on my machine, but ran into the problem I mentioned before. If Demathis1's machine had the 64MB card I probably would have put a good bid in. If it had the 128, I'd have taken it for myself and given the friend my old one...

^^^The radeon mobility card is what I have in my laptop (Radeon Mobility M6) and it's pretty much garbage, the Intel Extreme 2 is actually better.

Well, I was gonna bid on it, especially since I'll be in Wilm, but my dad said he'd rather just buy me a new one. Go figure.

I don't believe i got the extended warranty lebo...... so i think whatever standard Dell warranty that was included may have already expired. But like i said, it's only 8 months old and I've certainly never once had a problem with it.

that said, I'm flying back to England on Thursday (unless i can push my date back) so I will need to meet anyone who wants to buy this on Tuesday of this week.

highest bid at 425 .............
