The more I think about this man, the more I am starting to believe he would be a perfect fit here. He is from North Carolina, can recruit like a motherfucker and while at Miami has accomplished more than expected. He also has a bitchin' website. So, bring on Frank Haith

i have been saying from the beginning that this guy has some good traits
great recruiter minority coach (might give us an advantage against the ultimate white-boy coaches down the road) coached in the ACC, familiar with arenas, travel, recruiting landscape young, and passionate etc.
maybe not perfect, but I think everyone just started pissing on haith early b/c they thought we had a chance at Barnes/Calipari/Wright/Tubby/etc.....
think it is time for a lot of fans to re-asses this, and look at him objectively! 4/12/2006 5:18:09 PM |

I wouldn't be too upset with Frank, but only if we struck out on Gillispie.
I think Gillispie is our man now, and if we can get him, I'll be super-excited.
If not, lets get Haith...who I think, given time, may turn out to be a heckuva coach 4/12/2006 5:21:08 PM |

This also means its not final. Wouldn't be surprised for Haith to hold off on "finalizing the deal" until we get a coach.4/12/2006 6:00:31 PM |

IF IF IF we offer Haith.....he probably will not even think twice about it and be our next coach...and at this point...i dont have a problem with it...that is as long as Jay Wright definitively says he does not want to be considered. 4/12/2006 6:37:12 PM |

It's a little different with him though. He's been a head coach for 2 years.... but unlike a Gillespie or Turgeon/Marshall... we know what we're going to get becuase he's ACC ready.
7-9 at Miami isn't bad...actually, it's very good. The more I read on him, the more I like him.
He's a Wolfpacker as well.
And it's Miami...I doubt they'd care too much.

being in the ACC already, he knows what it's like to coach in this conference and what it is going to take to reach the top. that gives him an edge over Gillespie/Turgeon/Marshall in regards to that. the resources to succeed in basketball have to be better at NC State than Miami. 4/12/2006 6:54:14 PM |

no I don't unless asked and I would think the author of the story would at least pester him about any other potential coaching opportunities if anyone other than Oklahoma came calling. The writer did mention that Haith did at least listen to the call. 4/12/2006 7:03:39 PM |

Why would we hire a guy that coached a team that we beat twice last year? I thought we wanted an improvement. Besides, Haith doesn't have the experience to coach at NC State. 4/12/2006 7:09:49 PM |

I guess people are intrigued by his NC roots, I am not. Let him prove himself a little more there at Miami but taking a chance on Haith is not a step up from Herb.

Apples to oranges.
Herb had his own players. Haith didn't. He's got a lot of young talent that he's recruited there.
Haith also beat UNC. That kind of stuff doesn't work in sports4/12/2006 7:15:12 PM |

i say we offer him and see what he can do, i'm tired of hearing about big name guys then getting my hopes up and then finding out they got a raise and aren't coming. Plus I don't see any more big names that are worth getting coming here especially since rick barnes didn't.

What has this guy ever done?
Herb Haters shouldn't like him, he has no charisma and doesn't bitch at the refs. Ive never heard him say anything at all.
^6 in 17 years is not that good. Hell Herb has had what 4 in the last 5 years with Sherrill, Hodge, Wilkins, and Costner.

He has an exciting offence
Develops players on offence and defence
