Plus, if I am no longer a student there will they still let me have the discount?
I am starting Grad school at UNC in Aug and I looked at their bookstore online and got this crap about Microsoft being able to reclaim the program in june 06 if UNC doesnt renew its software agreement with them

For MS Office 03 I think I paid around $55 at the NCSU Bookstore. You can get it with or without (cheaper) some program I think it's called Front Page, to make web pages or something.

The difference between pro and standard is that pro has access and publisher as well as a buisness contact manager for outlook. Frontpage is seperate from either.

Also, to purchase it from the ncsu bookstore you must present a valid ncsu student, faculty, or staff ID. Technically you are required to be a current student, though if your ID is not expired... well it's not like they check to see if you're still enrolled. Even if it is expried, as long as it's the new style you should still be fine.

The version sold there is perpetual though only licenses one machine. It can not be 'reclaimed' or anything. However, microsoft may withdraw the right to resell the software if the bookstore were to become too careless in checking student ID's.

It's the same story with the ultra-cheap 259.95 dollar copies of Adobe Creative Suite CS2 Premium.

A lot of stores like Office Max/Depot will selling you "student" or "education" versions for a lot cheaper ... many times you don't even need a school ID but I'd have one anyways. Just call around and ask.

That's the way I buy a lot of software and it's usually not in plain sight - but if you ask nicely people at stores like that can usually get you what you want.

^ not cheaper than 59.95 for office 2003 though, but yeah if you don't have an NCSU ID you can get those same "normal" education priced versions for 139.95 or so at most retailers (bookstore included)

finding office pro 2003 for cheaper than 69.95 legally is going to be hard if not impossible.
