I'm extremely sore from the rafting training, and I have a few strained mucles. Will drugs like Ibuprofen, Etolac (sp), or those in the Naproxen family help me heal faster? They ease the pain, I don't plan on long-term use, just trying to get through the initial re-conditioning period... I can barely bend over or push the clutch in in my Mustang.
What's the best way to fix this... more stretching? 4/16/2006 10:24:02 PM |

No, they won't help you heal faster. All they'll do in this case is lessen the pain.

The Drs. told me in a previous injury that they helped the injury heal faster besides eliminating the pain... by reducing inflammation. But this is a whole body thing. 4/16/2006 10:53:19 PM |

yeah when i tore my shoulder i was told that by reducing the inflammation the naproxen would help it heal, but i guess that could have been dumbing things down to get me to take the stuff 4/16/2006 10:58:50 PM |

you can take an ice bath--if you can handle it. but that should just help with soreness. try ibuprofen, stretching and rest. 4/17/2006 1:25:43 AM |

Smath hit the nail on the head.

The one in Whee is not the hottest prolly a 7 abut she can put both legs behind her head and still suck... might do the trick... believe it or not she knows as much about muscle injuries as I do. I'll introduce her to biofreeze... It'll be be my first burning massage.
If I gave her a couple of cheeseburgers I'd up her to an 8.5, but she's hyperthyroid... it's like she's got a hollow leg.

I had six Advil when I started, but in all the confusion I lost count.... Did I take five or six? so you gotta ask yourself a question. 'Do I feel lucky?' Well do ya, punk?" 4/17/2006 12:06:00 PM |
