Quote :
"Mr. Oppenheimer attributes his prior reluctance to realize Yale had erred to "basic human stubbornness" and says he finds it "awfully upsetting to agree with jokers like Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly," both of whom have discussed the Yale story on Fox News Channel. "The harder they flogged this issue, the more I became convinced that they had to be wrong. I just feel better across the fence from them. . . . I think it's utterly fair to blame the right wing for making me so desperate to dissemble."

James Kirchick, a Yale senior, wrote last month in the Yale Daily News that he was disturbed by the refusal of liberals to be outraged over the religious fascism the Taliban represent. Echoing Mr. Oppenheimer, he noted that "a friend of mine recently remarked that part of his and his peers' nonchalance (and in some cases, support for) Hashemi has to do with the fact that the right has seized upon the issue. Our politics have become so polarized that many are willing to take positions based on the inverse of their opponents'. This abandonment of classical liberal values at the expense of political gamesmanship has consequences that reach far beyond Yale; it hurts our national discourse." "

Thats a very dumb statement. Liberals don't sling blame at Conservatives any more than Conservatives do. I know plenty of Conservative kids from my hometown that would automatically disagree with absolutely anything said by a democrat. Regardless of what they really meant

Dude, that Yale guy touches on something I've been wondering about for a while. Liberals are way too accepting of Islam in all its forms. So many parts of the faith go against basic ideals, but since it's such a touchy subject, no liberal will stand up and be like, "Hey, fuckers, what's up with beating your wives? Could you give it a fucking rest???"

The reason most US liberals support Islam is because it is the major religion opposing Christianity today. US liberals are against US christians because they feel US christians are holding pack progress. Hence, they accept whichever religion is going to help their cause the most. If the world peace thing were really the main objective, liberals would praise the US and other countries for invading Iraq and Afg. to free the people there from evil dictators who tortured, murdered, and oppressed millions of people. Now we have Islamic fundamentalists killing people over there for the sole purpose of preventing western progress and thinking and all other liberal beliefs, but yet the liberals think we should run away.

WHY CAN'T YOU FUCKS UNDERSTAND THAT JESUS CHRIST, AS THE BIBLE DEPICTS HIM, IS THE MOST LIBERAL MAN EVER TO WALK THE EARTH?

I believe it was Kris who used to always call him a "pinko-commie-liberal"

It is funny to me that so much of what Christ taught is on the opposite side of the spectrum from the party stance of those so closely tied to the religion. I'd classify Jesus more towards the Libertarian side of the liberal spectrum though.

Very true. This also carries over to a lesser extent to some of the negative aspects of inner-city black culture.

A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. [Luke 12:15]..

I have shown you in every way by laboring like this, that you must support the weak.
And remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, that
He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Acts 20:35

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- Matthew 6:19-21

“Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love Him?” [James 2:5]

I Timothy 6:17-19: “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”

pew center survey said 96% of americans believe in god

Quote :

less than 10% of blacks say they are catholic, but huge numbers of baptists.
for portion of the population that attends church 2 to 3 times a month or more, blacks consistently have 9% higher participation than whites (if that sentence makes sense)
blacks feel their religious beliefs are very important in large numbers. 80% compared to 50%
among high school seniors is religion very important? 45% of blacks say yes 21% of whites.

OH AND I QUOTE: "Black respondents display significantly higher levels of religious participation and these effects are independent of socieconomic status, region, religious affiliation, and other sociodemographic factors."

guess religion isnt the reason.

good statistics. Nice work, really.

But you actually misunderstood my post.

I wasn't implying anything about blacks and religion.

I was saying that much like radical Islam, some aspects of inner-city black culture "go against basic ideals, but since it's such a touchy subject, no liberal will stand up and be like, "hey, fuckers, what's up with [insert any crime glorified in hip hop songs]? Could you give it a fucking rest???"

adding to BridgetSPK's point

i was too young to remember from then, but from what i have seen there was a huge outcry against gangster rap from the left in the early 90s. im pretty sure that included clinton speaking out against some specific instances of black racism (blacks being racist towards whites)

WRONG, Jesus taught to not judge people. That does not mean he would support liberal issues, such as gay rights and abortion, if he had to vote on the issues. There is a key difference.

Quote :
"^^ Except the US didn't invade Iraq or Afghanistan to bring about any kind of peace."

You are right, the coalition forces didnt invade outright for this reason. But it was a key point for most moderate liberals prior to invasion.

Is there seriously somewhere in the bible where Jesus says that he doesn't support gays?

That doesn't sound like Jesus.

Yet despite the fact that abortion/exposure and homosexuality was common practice during Jesus' time, he never said a thing about it. Odd.

So what? Is this some new revelation to you? That people can have such hostility to a subject they lose all sense of perspective? I guess you have never had a discussion about Bush, Clinton, the ACLU, homosexuals, evolution, etc....

his point was that their rhetoric is so disturbing that if they are right on something people want to disagree with them because they are disgusted by what they have to say.
conservatives do the same thing with michael moore.

its a problem with our country and its political scene, not a problem with conservatives.
