im working on a little website for a friend

wondering if imagemaps are still used a lot-- basically, i have this for the map so far



and i was thinking about making it so you could click the plate of food and go to a gallery full of pictures we have taken of the food, and clicking the small map to take you to a larger map - crap like that

would you use an imagemap to do that? and is there some freeware i can use to not have to plot it out myself?

i dont really need to be told that my map sucks, or that my idea sucks. im just wondering how you would do THIS. thx

i'd be really lazy, slice it up, then use a table or css to stitch it back together

hahah yeah, i kinda figured that flash killed the old school. but i dont know flash. maybe it would be a fun project to learn it on though

don't use tables...I made the mistake of using that for shit like this and for layout purposes but I've been reformed recently

i bet dreamweaver probably has a mapping tool in it on the design view somewhere, but i only use the code view

but yeah mapping should work

honestly, doesn't sound like a very intuitive navigational scheme. it would never occur to me to click on the plate. if the image was the plate by itself, maybe. but not when it's lost in a huge image that contains other more eye-drawing elements that don't map.

but yeah ive decided that if i do use a map, its just gonna be a little rectangle over that actual map in the bottom right -- to bring it up full size

i dunno, im just playing around with ideas and i forgot abotu imagemaps ok
