No, I am not talking about Ferruccio Lamborghini, but Arash Farboud. He will sell his Farboud GT in the US as well!
The car has achieved 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and stayed with a Carrera GT till 140 mph in a road race, at which point, the [illegal] race was aborted.
Some pictures below. Click link below for more pics and full story, including a test drive.

Quote : | "Ferrari’s stock answer is ‘no’, but some people just aren’t used to hearing it. So when Arash Farboud politely enquired about the Ferrari Enzo and got told where to go, his first response was to order a Porsche Carrera GT. For most rich youngsters that would have been that, we’d never have heard of him, but not Arash.
Because then, for reasons he’s still struggling to rationalise himself, he went and built his own supercar in a pique of petulant rage with the express purpose of blowing the Prancing Horse’s legs off.
Farboud started in 1999 with a wild concept, a Porsche GT1 replica, and once he’d calmed down he freely admits he should have killed off the whole idea. It’s one thing building a shiny new prototype and lapping up attention at the shows, it’s quite another turning that dream into a reality and most fledgling manufacturers fall at the mass production hurdle as the bailiffs take their house, wife and self-respect. Just ask John DeLorean.
But that hasn’t happened here, in part due to Arash’s conservative start. The 29-year-old set up a workshop opposite the family pharmaceutical company that pays for his impressive collection of exotica. Then, with the help of just two full time engineers, he gave painful birth to a supercar company." |

Dude has got too much cas lying around...
Quote : | "As for Arash, he has left his name above the door and moved on to his next project, which he will unleash at the UK motor show and promises to be something truly special.
When Ferrari turned him down for the Enzo, Farboud bought a 360 anyway, so they “won’t say no next time,” and his Carrera GT should have been delivered by now. But by the time the work has finished in Farboud’s garage in Cambridgeshire, he might not even want them. " |

^^Dude, I don't think your anti-car-comparison crusade is going to fare too well. People compare designs, it's natural.
That having been said, I like the way the shape wraps around the wheels, and doesn't have the crazy long front and rear overhangs that lots of supercars seem to have. It looks compact, and that's refreshing. I agree with whoever said they don't like the door carve-out, and in my opinion the headlight pods are too big for the car, but overall it's a nice shape, and the performance looks mighty impressive.
The Audi TT V6 is also an interesting engine choice. I like it though. And, as the numbers show, 600 hp will do a lot with only 2500 lbs. 4/20/2006 9:54:11 PM |

why don't YOU make your own distinct supercar and actually be able to sell it profitably?
it is easy to make something distinct.
it is very hard to make something people would buy even though you are a no-name.

for being such a nationalist, you sure can't see that that's obviously NOT an indian name, do you? and it is quite obviously a persian name.

It's lazy is what it is. It adds zero value to the convo to say car X looks or has aspects of car Y and thats it. Any car fan (ie, the majority of The Garage) can readily see the similarities so it's a waste of time. It's almost a generic, I know cars because I can say this car looks like that car.
It makes sense if you want to talk about a specific aspect, like, a roofline, and say "yea, I like the roofline doing this, it's similar to car Y but different in this way". Then, you are really discussing the aesthetics, not just a bland statement.
Everyone does it, but its trite. If I'm an asshole for pointing that out, so be it.4/21/2006 10:52:52 AM |

Trying to profit off of supercars is not a good business venture anyway. You think Saleen made/(makes?) much money off the s7? Come on now. You think Porsche makes any money off their supercar? No, they make their money selling boxsters.

the taillights and front end look nice... that's about it. i'm sure the door channels are extremely effective in their purpose, but it's an eyesore. the interior is an acura rsx with carbon fiber. it's rather, "meh". what's the retail price? 4/22/2006 10:55:37 AM |

Then all people who post about how the guy has too much cash would be pointless to. Come on, this is the internet and tdub...
The car looks pretty good, but a generic supercar (if you can say that). I praise the guy who spent his money and time to develope a car of his own, even if he wants to show it off, but don't most rich people want to show off their rich status?4/22/2006 10:35:25 PM |
