depends on the colors, and who you go to.

I got the one on my arm at NY Adorned where they charge $180/hr,

but down at Dogstar in Durham, they just sorta give an estimate.

for black only, size of the top of a can, i'd say $60-70 maybe, and yah, do tip

from my experience Blue Flame does a fine job. The tattoo above was my first and they did a good job of giving me what I wanted. as mentioned above, be SURE to tip. and make sure you get something you won't regret telling your grandkids about.

where to go depends on what style youre getting. you seem like a douchebag, so you can just go anywhere to get your gay tattoo.

why the fuck would you tip

it's not like they're making an hourly wage or anything

they charge based on what they're doing

I'm not disputing the fact that it's social etiquette to tip a tattoo artist I'm just saying that's a stupid fucking system

I mean if you don't want to go back, don't tip or whatever.

But multiple sessions, hell yes you should tip.

yeah, i agree that tipping them is asinine, especially if you consider how much tattoos can cost. with that said, what is the standard for tipping? what's a "good" percentage?

tipping = cheaper rates on next tattoo. Artists usually make 50% of their fee...and basically can charge what they feel fit. if you tip well, you get in good, and get better deals. My artist in CT seriously charges me about 1/2 what the tattoo would cost here.

yeah, i love when i'm getting something done and someone is asking for a rate on some flash from the wall, they'll look at the tattoo design, and then look at the person, and quote like $50 more than mine is going for, and its like half the work

overcharging for tramp-stamps and kanji pays the bills i guess
