contracts aren't written overnight and there are various reason why it is supposedly not signed. They could be waiting to see what other coaches will be making such as who is hired here, so his contract can beat it. Who knows.

What if we took our $3 buyout of Beilein and added it to our Barnes offer. It'd make him like the highest paid coach in the national, and who couldn't say no to and extra $3M.

Won't happen, but what if....

Yeah, lets just keep throwing money at someone who doesn't want to coach here.

That'll end well.

Apparently you don't understand... What we offered Barnes is more than what B-Line is going to cost us... EVEN WITH THE $3 MILLION BUYOUT! Barnes would have been one of the top 5 paid coaches in the country, making more than coaches with National Championships under their belt. There isn't an extra $3 million just lying around unused. Yes, our athletic department did have one of the highest budget surplus in the country but we can't pay a coach whatever the fuck we feel like. THere are state laws that limit guaranteed money (salary) which was also a reason Lavin negotiations were difficult.

so on triangle sports talk yesterday morning, taylor zarzour said that he had talked to someone involved with the search and they said they are "reexamining some coaches" and when asked if that means rick barnes they said " well he hasn't signed his contract yet, why wouldn't we go after him"

and to that i say, if you don't want to come here we should quit begging, unless its just because of the players he lost to the nba between now and the last time we asked

the contract has to be approved by the legislature?
do ours?

becuase that'd be a hell of a way for fans of Texas to keep down fans of A&M or Tech... make sure that the contracts for their coaching hires can't be approved...

As I understand it, his new contract has to be approved by the State legislature.

No idea if we do that or not, or if it is true. I know it's in the works, though. Regardless, I don't think it means a thing in relevance to the NC State job

I have seen that image at least 100 times, and for some reason this is the first time I found it funny.
