-Believed that Sendek should have been fired four years ago after we became NIT State.
-Think the Princeton offense cannot win consistently at ACC level.
-Whoever the new coach will be, they want him to win a lot and to defeat either Duke or North Carolina at least once in his first year.
-These people will use every high-profile win by this coach to prove they were right all along.
-Think Lee Fowler doesn't know his head from his ass.
-Think the coaching search is going bad because Fowler couldn't properly vet coaches while accounting for their business situations.
-Think Fan Group 2 are idiots.

-Believed that Sendek was wrongly treated by the fanbase.
-Take the position that NC State should thank Sendek for his contributions, and that the team's current state of being good enough to defeat the small teams but never good enough to defeat the big teams is the norm.
-Think NC State's inability to win against Duke and North Carolina are just how things are going to be in the future and that the rest of the fanbase should just get used to it.
-Whoever the new coach will be, subliminally they want this coach to lose and do no better than Sendek to prove they were right all along.
-Think Lee Fowler has a thankless job due to Fan Group 1.
-Think the coaching search is going bad due to Fan Group 1.

Fan Group 3:
-Believed that Sendek had a tough job, but he knew what he was getting into when he accepted it.
-Think that some State fans are irrational but that Sendek over time had topped out on what he could have done at NC State and was unable to go higher due to his inability to make game-altering decisions and tactical changes required at this level of play.
-Realize that most fans' anger comes from the fact that their two neighboring rivals get a lot of media attention, are routinely nationally ranked, and have their head coaches on car commercials.
-Whoever the new coach is they want to see win, not to prove they were right, but so the team wins.
-Think Lee Fowler should at the least justify his salary by making competent decisions when called upon to do so instead of treating all constructive criticism as being a product of Fan Group 1.
-Think the coaching search is going bad because the coaches are not willing to take the challenge of an ACC school currently in the middle of the conference.
-Think Fan Group 1 and Fan Group 2 are idiots.

I was pro-Herb all the way, and was sad to see him go. I figured his departure would leave us worse off in the long run, but I'm not glad that it looks like I'm right--it sucks. It's painful. But I can't put myself in group 2 because I don't accept that being unable to win against Duke and UNC is "just how things are going to be". I don't think Sendek had "topped out" though, and I think he was mistreated by the fan base, hence not being able to be a full member of group 3.

The first four years of Sendek's career at NC State, we made the NIT (and being in the ACC, to make the NIT all you have to do really is load up on cupcakes out-of-conference). If you didn't follow the team back then, "NIT State" was a mock cheer Carolina fans and some other schools would do to us. It was:

In Sendek's 5th year, we didn't make the NIT...or the NCAA. This pretty much hardened most Herb haters' opinions of him in that he would never be a good enough coach to take State to a conference championship. Hence the comment as that's where some people's opinion of Sendek was formed.

I'm not a hardcore Herb hater, just stating why most think that. And I've seen the same threads for Sendek every time I have come on this board for five years. (not cause they've been created by me)

Sendek's first five years really screwed him. Take out those five years as they never existed and he wouldn't be near as controversial.

We played like s*** to an average Wisconsin team. The team played one of their worst games of the year when they had to play their best (couldn't hit a 3 pointer I remember). Right or wrong, it just left that bad taste in my mouth like the Texas game last month did.
