I'm looking for something to transfer pictures from my camera (sd card) to my iPod mini to free up space on my camera. So far what I can find is not compatible with iPod minis: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=55EFC253&nplm=M9861G%2FA Any suggestions?
I need to buy it locally since I am leaving on a trip in two days. The option is to buy more memory. Currently I have a 512 and a 256 sd card which will give me about 300 pictures w/o video. 4/27/2006 9:26:38 AM |

I think your only solution here is going to be to use a laptop to read the pics from SD card, then transfer them to the iPod 4/27/2006 9:56:03 AM |

can't really do this unless you buys some expensive equipment.
Just find yourself a 1gb or 2gb SD card. 1 gigs can be had for well under $50, even as low as $20 after rebates.

i'd say for the $30, buy it and try it
obviously you won't be able to view the pics on a mini, but you can prolly store them 4/27/2006 11:21:25 AM |

Does the mini have a pc-less file transfer feature like usb on-the-go? I dont think it has one.

All I know is when iRiver came out with the first color, picture-viewing MP3 player (H320 I think it was), it lacked a feature called "USB On-The-GO" and was therefore unable to take pictures/video directly from a camera/camcorder. 4/27/2006 11:28:32 AM |

you can get a gig card for $25 now, http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10399506&spf=1&sp=1
I think the photo transfer capability is only with the ipod photos, there's a separate menu and a transfer util that makes it work 4/27/2006 11:29:47 AM |

The probelm is that the firmware on the mini will not transfer files over the docking port automatically like the photo or video ipods will. It's not that the hardware can't do it, it's just that apple programmed it so it won't. Unless there's a hack, the photo adapter will not work with the mini. 4/27/2006 11:49:22 AM |

I was trying to avoid taking the laptop, but it's probably the best solution for now. At least this way I can take some video too. 4/27/2006 1:36:40 PM |

Minis don't do photos. You need a 4G photo, 5G video, or a nano to be able to transfer photos.
(BTW, that connector works great if you have a compatible iPod. I've used on many occasions for the exact same purposes that you described.) 4/27/2006 1:49:10 PM |
