So I recently got a flash drive, and I enjoy it a lot. But I really would like to have a bigger one, so I'm gonna sell my 256mb http://www.lexar.com/jumpdrive/jd_secureII.html and get a 1 gig.
here are some pros and cons of ones that I have seen. If any of you have or have used a flash drive you can reccomend I appreciate it.
I love the one piece design of the sandisks (i tend to lose stuff, If I could keep the entire thing on my keychain it would make things better) but they seem kind of pricey. The OCZ Rally is looking like a good deal, reviewers like it also, anyone know about it?
A-DATA 1GB Flash Drive - $25.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820211225
Pros: Dirt-ass cheap, lots of good customer reviews (don't know what this is worth) Cons: Dirt-ass cheap, never heard of this company, can't find any actual reviews, could be slow
OCZ Rally High Performance 1GB Dual Channel Flash Drive - $33.99 - $8 mir (that I will probably not use) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820203003&ATT=20-203-003&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me
Pros: Fast, slim, Lifetime warranty, good price Cons: ?????
Lexar Media 1 GB JumpDrive Lightning 100X - $54.36 http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=A0467978&cs=04&c=us&l=en
Pros: Blazing fast, looks cool i guess, Cons: somewhat pricey, supposedly the cap falls off a lot
SanDisk 1 GB Cruzer Micro with U3 - $49.33 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EWARBG/sr=1-32/qid=1146276208/ref=sr_1_32/104-7121839-5143966?%5Fencoding=UTF8&s=electronics
Pros: Tiny, retractable USB port (love this feature) Cons: somewhat slow, fairly pricey
SanDisk 1 GB Cruzer Titanium - $61.99 (w/ free ship) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EWD6YG/sr=1-39/qid=1146276113/ref=sr_1_39/104-7121839-5143966?%5Fencoding=UTF8&s=electronics
Pros: Small, retractable USB, tougher than hell, fast Cons: Quite pricey
CORSAIR 1GB Flash Drive - $30 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820233008
Pros: durable, pretty fast, waterproof Cons: bulkier than others

definately get the jumpdrive sport, ive got one, ive lost it twice, its been through the washer and dryer twice and it still works
and the drive detaches from the rubber holder so you dont have your keychain dangling off the computer, 4/29/2006 12:51:22 AM |

I like this one:

I've sent it through the wash, stepped on it, dropped it hudreds of times. It's fairly cheap for 1gb too. 4/29/2006 1:02:45 AM |

Try to get some solid reviews of the software that comes with the sticks ... the performance will be the same (more or less). Also get a good measuring of how big the keychain holes are ... some of the sticks CLAIM you can get it on a keychain and instead you CAN, but not with anything else on the chain
I'll vouch for my Lexar Secure II 1GB Stick. Software automagically creates "vaults" which are encrypted and mounted as a drive once unlocked with a password. Also includes a file shredder on the stick. 4/29/2006 9:18:44 AM |
