I thought the death penalty for a guy that didn't actually do anything was a bit extreme, personally. Kinda like executing the rosenbergs, even though I doubt their spying led to a single death.

^ I agree, why give him the pleasue of crediting him for the 911 attacks. He was in jail during the attacks so he is sent right back to jail for the attacks.

i'm just saying that while i think he's a piece of shit and probably deserves to be executed, it doesn't sound like he did anything that justifies it as per our laws, and i don't want to go down the road of "well, he doesn't really qualify for the death penalty, but he REALLY sucks, so let's do it anyway."

it's a little bit of an odd case. i mean, i think that if we were to execute him, well, he's a piece of shit and probably deserves it. i don't think we should do it, though, because it's bad, bad, bad business from a legal standpoint (in my opinion). i'm not really sure how to perfectly articulate my point, other than what i originally said (he deserves to die, but does not deserve to be executed)

I've known plenty of people in my life that were really into socialism/communism, and every single one of them thought Stalin was a monster.

He won't even have that privelege(sp?). According to CNN, he'll be in solitary confinement 24/7, minus one hour a day for "recreation", and that's alone too.
