In 1975 (the last year LOU HOLTZ coached!!) there were no group pictures taken of the Wolfpack band or majorettes. But a lot of photographers (maybe Ed Carem, etc??) took a lot of candids at the games. I'm looking for anybody who might have a lead on some pictures of majorettes at 1975 football games. Please help if you can. Thanks 5/4/2006 9:48:36 AM |

seriously, most of the posters on this site weren't born in 1975... so we don't really have access to those kinds of pictures...
if oyure' that desperate to see your mug on film then you really need to try working with the university and seeing if any local photographers were at the games... 5/4/2006 11:20:50 AM |

First of all, in my first post on this topic, I explained that there were NO pictures taken by the university. Back in the free-form seventies, in the OLD DAYS, the yearbook was very un-structured and there weren't even team pictures of the athletic teams. (Take a look at the 75-76 yearbook. I'm sure the library has one.)
I have already talked to the folks at the Agromeck and Technician and at the athletic department. I've personally gone to the archives at DH Hill and looked through all the pictures from that time period. I've talked to the folks at the music school who would know. I've talked to a man who wrote a book about the music program at NC State. I have been VERY thorough.
I spent my whole childhood going to and loving NCSU football games and wanting to be a part of the Wolfpack Marching Band. Yes, it was important to me. It was VERY important to me. And I have no record of it except in my memories. I hoped that maybe somebody on this site would know somebody who might know something.
The guys at the NC State I attended back in the OLD DAYS were helpful and courteous. There is no excuse for unprovoked RUDENESS. Are you, by chance, really a CAROLINA student or fan?? 5/4/2006 3:13:35 PM |

whatever... "back when i went to school" stories don't impress anyone...
if you were so thorough, then why are you bothering to ask a bunch of young'ns like us if we'd happen toh ave any pics lying around...
and you say you asked the university, did you ask about the photographers? just because the university doesn't have the photos doesn't mean they didn't have to give passes to sideline photographers at the games... THOSE people would have whatever pictures you're looking for... 5/4/2006 3:23:12 PM |

^^the kids these days are used to the anonymity the internet provides, and thus have learned that manners and courtesy are a lot easier to disregard on message boards and such. 5/4/2006 3:27:07 PM |

if you can, try to get in touch with the local newspapers. they might have some archived photos that you can duplicate. yeah as Smath said a lot of people on here are used to being rude, b/c they can "hide behind their keyboard." welcome to the board, and if you have any old photos of State games or the campus that you could scan in, I'm sure a number of people on here would like to see them.

gdavisrx, First of all, we're not all as young as some might have you believe. I covered games back in the day but didn't take any pictures of the band or majorettes; however, the fact that one person has already responded who was around with a camera back then says to me that your request was not totally inappropriate. As for the rude/not rude debate, a lot of room to grow on both sides. If you look back to the early days of this site, a much higher level of civility was evident. Nowadays, you do well to get halfway through a thread without injection of racist commentary, f-bombs and the like. But you're not going to make any progress with the Carolina fan bailout; takes two to tango. Good luck with your search. As I have learned and continue to learn with the Internet, anything that you have done, be it good or bad, can be found. Keep looking. 5/4/2006 4:44:48 PM |
