I paid that much earlier this month for an 8ft Olhausen . . . . and it included a lamp, cues, wall rack, two sets of balls, and a new felt.
Good luck with that. 5/15/2006 10:06:14 PM |

i'm not gonna buy this one, b/c i live in FL
but how big of a deal is it to move a pool table? i want to get a nice table when i buy a house at my first permanent duty station, but i'll only be there for a few years, so i'll inevitably have to move it. can a regular moving company move it without dicking it up, or do you have to know what you're doing? 6/25/2006 3:06:08 AM |

^^according to the moving company i'm dealing with right now for my corporate relocation (city moving systems-united van lines) i believe they recommend having a pool table professionally disassmbled and reassembled on site, but i'd have to check again 6/25/2006 9:47:04 AM |

^^well, the military would be paying for moving my stuff. it would probably just be moved by a regular moving company, although, i guess they could take it apart. i'm sure someone in the military has owned a pool table before. 6/25/2006 12:12:20 PM |

^^^^ Even if they do fuck it up, all you have to do is file a claim and Personal Property will reimburse you. A pain to go through the hassle, but it's not like you'll be out a pool table. 6/25/2006 3:00:56 PM |

haha, true
from what i've seen, there's about a 90% chance that something will get lost or damaged on a PCS anyway. 6/25/2006 3:21:41 PM |

I did four PCS moves and the movers never lost or broke anything of mine. The only problem I ever had was when I moved from Charleston to Raleigh. The movers attempted to deliver, but couldn't find my place. They tried to call me, but someone had copied my phone number wrong onto the paperwork that the driver had. The movers came back a month later, unloaded my stuff and then asked me for a $70 missed delivery fee. I said WTF and call PSD in Fayetteville:
"You owe them $70 because you gave them the wrong phone number." "Well, I have here in front of me the form I filled out on the internet. It has the correct phone number on it. The form I have from the movers has been filled in by hand and has the wrong number. I didn't fill out this handwritten form--someone else did and they made a transcription error." "They wrote down the wrong number because you gave them the wrong number." "No, I didn't. I filled out the form on the internet for this move. I did not fill in any forms at the moving company. Whoever fills these out at the moving company made a transcription error. Why do I have to pay $70 for someone else's transcription error?" "You have to pay because you gave them the wrong phone number." "Well, I'd like to contest this. Who do I need to talk to?" "Tell the movers to pack your stuff back up. I'll send you the form and when it's resolved they can deliver your stuff again. But if it's not resolved in your favor, you will owe for two missed delivery charges." "If I don't pay this, they'll take my stuff?" -- At this point it has taken 2 months for my stuff to make it the 300 miles from Charleston to Raleigh. "Yes." "This sounds like extortion. You charge me money for something I didn't do. If I refuse or make an issue out of it, I don't get my things." "It's not extortion." "How's it not extortion? You levy a bullshit charge against me and withhold my household goods until I pay it." "Well, sir...." "You know, bullshit like this is the exact reason I got out."
I pussed out and paid the $70 to keep my stuff.
