With Lowe at the helm, he might have to play inside the arc.

Actually, in response to a post early in the thread, a lot of players would want to play in a Herb style offense. Anyone who is smart, a good shooter, and slow would love it becuase it shows their strenghts and hides thier weaknesses.

actually kinda glad this kid is gone

means that the coaches are already in teh process of changing the offense and changing the personel to run it. Shows that we already may have a replacement lined up as well, someone to be announced soon to take that kids scholly. Hopefully this means no more Jack 'Em Up West kids.

I'm just glad that we did this coaching change during one of our down years recruiting wise... I wouldn't want to lose the talent that Oklahoma lost.

yeah our class was garbage this year anyway... if Wright re-commits and Cedric comes back for a final year then all the doomsdayers from last month are going to look pretty dumb.

You dumb fuckers are leaving Kentucky and Florida off the list of schools he's talking to now.

He also ended up being our highest rated recruit out of that class.

I'm not saying this as defending Herb...I'm saying this because we WOULD still want this kid on our team. Our staff still wants him too. You better believe Lowe and Harris are going to be back on this kid as soon as possible. He showed at the Glaxo tourney that he can do a lot more than shoot threes.

i dont mind a pure shooter as long as he is coached well and takes smart shots, but hopefully we can land this kind of talent here, come on Sid!

hate to lose recruits, but i figured this guy was gone from the start. he liked herb's offense and is unsure of what role he'd have here. sure we could use him, but of the 3 incoming freshmen, he'd be the first guy i get rid of.

All 3 of our recruits finished in the top 100 including Werner. Our class has been ranked in the 3-6th range of ACC schools. It is not that bad.

Yeah they are all garbage. We don't know who and all is coming back who gives a fuck if none of them come.

when I talked to Ben McCaully (sp?) a month or so back at the pittsburgh airport, he was saying that Wright came to a couple shootarounds and he was the real deal. said he's a nasty pg. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I think state could probably use him

I don't think anyone is saying that we don't need Wright.

And losing Werner will hurt us a bit, but it's a minor setback at best.

One of the possible downsides to this is it might make it easier for Horner and Davis to also decommit.

^ Davis is not decommitting atleast if you listen to the quotes from his Mom. I think she probably shit a brick when Lowe was hired because she thinks it will help her son make it to the NBA.

Just because a guy can shoot the three doesn't mean that's all he can do:

Quote :
"Scout.com Player Evaluation:

Intelligent basketball player who began peaking as a senior. Terrific touch for a perimeter player and excellent passing instincts. He's cut from the Bill Laimbeer (though not as tall) mold; average athlete, good touch, hard worker."

Sounds like a guy I'd like to have on my team. Although Laimbeer was kind of a dick.

That fixes it.

The only thing that made Laimbeer successful with that set of attributes was additional height and being a mean SOB. What's next, are they going to compare someone to Shawn Bradley (though not as tall)?

^We get last shot at him as well, since it is a conditional release. If he is an in fact a solid athlete that can shoot, he can be a valuable player for us. I think SidLo will still be able to keep him if he is a good fit for us.

"HARRIS: We talked to everybody involved with that, the coach, the father and I can see where they are coming from. That's fair. Larry Davis is going to be in the same boat. I don't think he is going to be out shopping around like a crazy man, but he is going to take a look at one or two other schools. Dennis has not indicated that as of yet. Those two guys will get a conditional release, which means Sidney will get the opportunity to go in and talk to them again. If they go elsewhere, they would be required to sit out a year.

IMHO, I think he will go somewhere else. I dont think he would have asked for released from the LOI unless he planned to. I also think he will regret not coming to state because he will have to sit a year and because we prob need him more than those other schools do.

Everybody just s l o w d o w n and think about this for a second. Dan Werner committed to Herb Sendek, Herb's assistants, Herb's offense, and NC State as a whole. He went over a month without knowing who the new coach was going to be...and now that he knows the new coach, he won't have time to sit down and talk with the new coach UNTIL THE NBA PLAYOFFS ARE OVER. He is just taking precautions. He will check out other schools, and if he doesn't like what Sidney Lowe has to offer when Sidney gets the last shot...then he'll go to another school.

Simple as that. Werner is just looking out for himself. I know I'd probably do the same thing.

"Dan Werner, a 6-foot-7 forward from New Jersey who originally signed to play basketball at North Carolina State, is now considering the University of Kentucky.

Werner, a senior at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, N.J., obtained permission from N.C. State to visit other schools after former coach Herb Sendek left to go to Arizona State.

Werner will take his official visit to UK this weekend. He visited Notre Dame last weekend and plans to visit Pittsburgh and Florida in coming weeks. He will visit St. Joseph’s and Rutgers unofficially."

Yeah...this guy is such a system player...because we all know Kentucky uses a Princeton offense...this guy must suck...
