i saw an article yesterday about manny. it said that he wasn't able to finish one of the team drills, and that his conditioning basically sucked.

"-- Opinions varied on the team's other first-round pick, linebacker Manny Lawson. Some thought Lawson looked too lanky (he's 6-foot-5 and a svelte 240 pounds). He couldn't finish a punishing shuttle drill imposed by linebackers coach Mike Singletary.

However, others liked Lawson's intelligence and his pass-rush ability

couldn't find the exact article i read, but this is basically the same piece from a SF paper.

i doubt it is either, every rookie has to work on sometihing. if conditioning is his worst problem, as opposed to trouble learning the system, or adjusting to the game speed, he is in decent shape.

the articles didn't really make a big deal of it, i was just a little surprised.

nah, his conditioning wouldnt matter in the jumps...and chuck never let him practice..just sent him to the ACC championships

im surprised he is not in excellent shape, chuck knows more about conditioning than football

manny is too tall to play LB in the NFL... he sucked as an OLB in college, his center of gravity is too high and he's just too lanky to be effective.

He's gonna have to find something he can do because his blend of size & strength just doesnt mesh with the NFL right now....

If he can put on 30 pounds he can be Jevon Kearse.

We've seen DE physiques change so no reason LB's can't. We shall see.

yeah im not saying he cant bulk up...

if they are hell bent on using him as an LB he could be an "elephant" and just play on passing downs or something...

i see him being a damn good blitzer from the edge and good in pursuit but just terrible in coverage... and i'd expect most teams to run at him to neutralize his speed....
