laptop keep changing from DMA to PIO?

im not sure what this question is about,

but using only 3 acroymns in your sentence is not enough for this to stay in tech talk

What's attached to the secondary controller? I don't have any idea why it would BTW unless it's pre DMA hardware.... but that would be like pre-laptop hardware.

I have no idea. Maybe a comet hit it. Mind if I ask how you spotted the problem?

i was trying to play a dvd on my laptop and it was all choppy

the internet told me to uninstall and reinstall the secondary IDE driver, which changed it from PIO to DMA and fixed the choppiness

it just keeps resetting itself to PIO for some reason though

Check the settings for it under your BIOS and make sure you have the newest driver for the thing.
