i have to book a trip to San Fran at the beginning of july
anybody have any advice on best and worst airlines to fly with
not on price, i can find that, but on service, perks (movies, etc) and that type of stuff.
mostly i want to know airlines to avoid. 6/2/2006 5:08:28 PM |

I've really liked US Airways. Continental generally has the best prices but nothing really outstanding in terms of perks. I don't recall ever watching a video on one of their flights, but then I only rode on the smaller planes with them and used US Air for international flights. 6/2/2006 5:11:14 PM |

Northwest = Northworst
Southwest will get you to Oakland or San Jose, but not SF.
Continental seems to like to troll the ghetto in NJ for flight attendants. American's are mostly older women. 6/2/2006 5:16:33 PM |

If you are flying to San Fran, you might be one one of those larger jets, if there's no layover.
I've ridden Continental to Europe at least 4 times and their huge jets are great. Edible food, and everyone (yes, in Coach class too) gets their own little TV in the headrest of the seat in front of them. You can pick from tons of movies to watch and play games (nothing too exciting - testris and solitaire and the like) and watch the news and things like that.
My mom's actually flying RDU-Newark-Frankfurt tomorrow since my Grandmother died and they even gave us a "compassion" discount - 10% off if the ticket is over $1000, 5% if the ticket's below $999.
The only crappy thing about them though is that they have a hub in Newark, so lots of flights go through there. Sorry to hate on Jersey if anyone's from there, but that is such a shitty airport. Never eat at the "Wok and Roll" 6/3/2006 11:05:54 AM |

^ American Airlines gave me 1/3 off the cost of my ticket from Miami to RDU when I had a death in the family.
I've always been happy with American Airlines and Jet Blue. Delta has a propensity to lose my bags and have dirty airplanes. US Airways is not too bad, good staff and clean planes. Never liked Continental or Southworst, ghetto airlines. 6/4/2006 3:48:32 AM |

I just flew to San Fran for my internship about 3 days ago with American Airlines. All was good with no problems and they go to San Francisco Airport. After that you can take a shuttle van to anywhere in the city for under 20 bucks from the airport. I was amazed. Goodluck.
JetBlue is cheap, but they don't go to all airports and don't fly from certain airports to other ones. Same with Southwest.

I love continental... but maybe it's because that was the first flight I was on where everyone had their own TV and could watch whatever they wanted out of the 6ish movies offered along with games and music. But I am somewhat new to flying frequently, so it was probably just the plane. I believe it was a 767 or 757 (flight from Texas to Hawaii). I have a flight with NWA in less than a month on an Airbus 330, anyone know if they have the same accomodations? 6/4/2006 2:12:34 PM |

I think you're right... although it has been very confusing to differentiate the two. There seem to be several thousand people online who believe this as well. 6/5/2006 1:15:49 AM |

I'm right.
I wrote my master's paper on aviation security.
If I can figure out how, I may move my dissertation to the topic. 6/5/2006 1:43:42 AM |

When I flew to Vegas I took America West on the way back...much nicer plane than any US Airways flight I've been on. Flip down LCDs, all up to date shit. Movie still sucked though. "Little Manhattan" 6/5/2006 11:27:59 AM |

^America West and US Airways just merged, so in a few years it will be the same regardless. 6/5/2006 11:30:40 AM |
