don't think we'll win the conference we can pretty easily start the season of 3-0 (app state, akron, then southern miss) but when it comes to the conference games there's a lot of toss ups 6/4/2006 12:09:49 PM |

what is up with everyone worrying about App State? I know they won the D1-AA NC, but still, not one player on their team was offered at a D-1 school. We'll win just on athleticism... 6/5/2006 10:39:33 AM |

1AA champ might put them on the same level as Duke.
There is a HUGE disparity between 1A and 1AA. Should be a blowout.
Remember how Jay lit up Eastern Kentucky? They're a pretty strong 1AA power. 6/5/2006 10:50:34 AM |

EKU went 7-4 last year with losses to: App State: 24-16 Western Kentucky: 23-21 NCSU: 54-10 Eastern Illinois: 53-22
Most of their wins were pretty dominating.
And we put up 31 unanswered points in the first quarter before we completely shut our own team down.

They lost their QB and one DE, thats about it. They replace the QB with a Mr. SC football. As far as I-AA goes, they are about the closest thing to "we don't rebuild, we reload" 6/5/2006 12:52:56 PM |

By "shutting our team down" he means we put in Marcus Stone and he fumbled the ball immediately to give up EKU's only touchdown of the game.6/5/2006 3:46:09 PM |

Or that freshmen and sophomores (true and RS) played 43% of the snaps in that game. The game with the second highest percentage of freshmen and sophomore playtime was MTSU, where they played 34% of the snaps.
Or freshmen played 15% of the snaps. Second place game, MTSU at 11%.
Or freshmen, sophomores, and juniors played 77% of the snaps. Second place game, MTSU 72%.
[Edited on June 5, 2006 at 4:11 PM. Reason : not to say that marcus didn't fumble. good thing he did in that game instead of FSU, though.] 6/5/2006 4:06:35 PM |

Well dont forget UCONN almost beat us at home three years ago.
Obviously, we're pretty heavy favorites against App State, but its definitely not out of the realm of possibility that they could beat us.
I dont know anything about what they have returning though... 6/6/2006 2:59:01 PM |

no
but
our schedule is the easiest it has been in the last few years and although fsu or miami would probably be the favorites for the title game like they probably will be every year, that doesnt mean we couldnt luck up and go 4-2 in conference including a win over FSU and get to the conference title game...then its anybody's game6/6/2006 3:10:15 PM |

^^UConn is Division I now Mr. Know it All.
They were decent that year and did beat Duke.
The following year IIRC they almost beat G Tech. 6/6/2006 3:12:25 PM |

I know UCONN is division I, clownshow.
Perhaps I was implying that when we played them they were just moving up from D 1-AA?
Was that really that difficult of a step to take on your own?
Can i let go of your hand now?

ASU could NOT beat Duke.
In fact I wish they would play each other to prove how the worst D-1A teams>the best D-1AA teams.

I'm the one missing the point?????
Uconn has never won a D 1-AA CHampionship to my knowledge.
Their first fucking year as D-1 they nearly beat us in Raleigh.
So why can't a defending D 1-AA CHAMPION beat us?
You are forgetting we are ten times worse this season then we were in '03.
I'm not saying we won't be heavy favorites, but it's ridiculous to act like its an automatic win.
Furman wiped the motherfucking floor with UNC a few years ago.
So quit being a tigershark already. 6/7/2006 6:00:25 PM |
