well... sadly it has come to the point where I need to find my dogs a home. My soon to be X-husband won't take any responsibility for the animals that we got together, and I just plain can't afford two dogs and a cat right now... I have to move and I can't afford the pet fees or the possibility of vet bills etc.... if I could find a roommate it'd work out... but apparently that's not working out.
if anyone knows anyone that might be able to take in a dog, or even just keep them for about 6 months until I can get back on my feet and be able to afford them, I would be ever so greatful.
I am obsessed with my dogs, so this is not easy for me. And for those of you who have read my other posts on them, I have been able to correct most of their behavior problems.... I guess I finally gained dominance.
but, monty is a little over 2 years old, and male, shephard/chow mix, about 35-40 pounds. And Holly is about a year and a half, possible shephard mix and is the same weight as monty.
I don't really expect any response... but figured it was worth a try.

Just a suggestion. Get a second job, I work a second job an animal hospital and I get discounts on treatment and meds and whatever my pets need.

Yeah sounds like with everything else you have going on now is not a good time for you to part with the pets you love.

If I had the extra room I'd do it in a heartbeat

Good luck!

btt
trying again.
Holly is about due for her rabies shot and I don't think I can even afford that.
... I have tried posting fliers, put them on craigslist and a few other things... unfortunately it is just that season for animals.
I guess I am going to try secondchance and a few other rescues before I go to work tomorrow.

I would like to help, but I don't think I have room for two dogs. I would like to meet them and possibly take one or take care of one for several months. PM me when you get a chanse.

after all you have already gone through, I would hate to see you loose your pets that you probably love. If you could do a yard sale and sell the stuff that you don't NEED then you could probably get some money to keep them. Going to a cheaper vet will help with vet bills. Post on craigslist about your situation and ask for help. If you get several people to donate $5 it should help you. I am willing to buy you a bag of dog food if it will help and/or pay for your dog to get its rabies shot.

Seriously, list things that you need. I know there are rabies clinics that are practically free. I'll do what I can to help too.

I have sold the only furniture worth buying, and all the rest I have left is basically junk.
and so far there are not any rabies clinics scheduled in wake county right now that I can find. that's what I normally do.
What I need right now isn't as much monitary help as it is help with the dogs. I mean, yes, I am really poor, but that is not the entire problem. without a roommate or someone that is actually capable of helping me with the dogs i can't handle them by myself. I can handle one, because she is ok in public (she hides under the chair when my friends aren't petting her while I'm studying at the coffee shop). As I messaged mswolf, I work 6-7 days a week and go to school full-time (yes, I'm taking classes this summer too), and then i feel like I am comming home to a bunch of toddlers (three if you add the howling cat). They are acting out because I don't have the proper time to care for them. I know that is what it is because of how much I have worked with animals, and for having them when i didn't work so much... but I'm tiered, and at this point I just get frustrated.
I love them to pieces, I just don't have the time or the patients for three animals. I never knew how hard it was until I've had to do it on my own for the last 6 months.
These guys were part of the rescue program I had going that I was just never able to find good homes for.... I didn't have money then either, but 8 animals at the time wasn't hard because I had a lot of time to devote to them.
and, I'm attached, believe me I am... but Monty especially needs a home where he can run, or be taken out to run a lot, and we have proven that fact... he didn't act out at all when he lived with Pete at the house for a few months.
So, I will be heart broken, but I think it would be better for both of us--all 4 of us--if I find one a home.
I am meeting with someone tomorrow that might be able to help me out... if I can find a place asap cheap with a yard and other people that will play with them... that would work too. The only problem is I have less than two weeks to figure it out.

well, XCchick messaged me info on a clinc that is going on tomorrow... so I am going to try and find it tomorrow when I get off of work.
There is also hope that I might at least have a temporary home for Monty, and my best friend has been calling around to some rescues while I'm at work (they tend to only be open when I'm at work). So far we are hoping for SecondChance if a good home doesn't come up.
I think I'm going to take some more fliers out.
thanks again.

So, if you can find at least a temp home for Monty do you think you'll be okay with your other pets?

on tuesdays and thursdays at Petsmart they have "wellness hours" from 1-4 where they dont charge vet fees for any vaccines-i got my dog a rabies shot then and it was like $17. take them today-rabies is the only important one you have to get! you could always try the vet school as well

well, Monty is currently staying at a farm as an outdoor dog. I feel really bad. He apparently cried the whole first night. My X took him out there because I had to work tuesday night, so I haven't even seen where he's at. I won't be able to go look until wednesday.
It is only a temporary home though and we still have to look for a permanent home. It is so much easier to deal with Holly and Nebo rather than all three of them... but I still miss Monty a lot.
But, I am definitely going to keep Holly and try and work on her social skills... she doesn't hide under the chair the whole time anymore when we are in public.
So, that is my update... if anyone knows of a good home or even maybe a different temporary home where he can be more of an indoor dog that would be great.
