I'm looking for an extremely quiet 92 mm fan to put in my new Antec Solo case. I want it to basically be inaudible and still put out a decent CFM. I have a fan controller to ramp down the voltage to it as well.
I was looking at the Panaflo L, but it sounds like they start screeching after 3 months.

Panaflo's are alright, they move a lot of air, but its not as quiet as you would think.
Scythe is quiet, but not as much air.
Try looking at SilentX, they are supposedly pretty good, but are more $ 6/14/2006 5:22:50 PM |

i've had luck w/ zalman they come with a resistor that make's them nearly inaudible...
i don't see why any dual ball bearing fan wouldn't work if you have a fan controller...
this is it: http://www.svc.com/92zalzm.html
i just run it on the 5v instead of 12v, and at 20db, i never hear it and i have 2 in my case.

it turns out that I may not need one after all. I installed my components in the new Antec Solo case and put the new passive heatsink on my nForce4 chip and everything is cooler with one 120mm fan spinning at 1200 RPM,39 CFM than it was in my Antec Lanboy case with 2 80mm fans. And it's a lot quieter too. My CPU temp has dropped 5 C at idle. Tonight I will test and see if this cooling is enough under stressful conditions. 6/15/2006 9:15:44 AM |
