I get a ton of bites every summer, I've found that this stuff that comes in a white/orange tube works pretty well to make the swelling go down. I realize this has very little to do with what you posted, but try it out. It's called After Bite. Great stuff to make it stop itching too. 6/14/2006 1:43:03 AM |

My guess is chiggers. I hate those motherfuckers.
Basically the same as mosquitos as far as symptoms. The grandparents always used to soak their feet in kerosene to get rid of them, but I haven't gone so far myself. 6/14/2006 1:50:32 AM |

I agree with the fire ant diagnosis. The bites will go away in 1-2 weeks. If it's really swollen and painful, it could have been a spider. 6/14/2006 12:00:45 PM |

if it was a fire ant, he would know it. Those bastards HURT instantly. 6/14/2006 12:07:24 PM |

Yeah they hurt, but not like a bee sting or anything. Depending in his pain threshold, if he was doing some sort of activity like running around or something he may not have noticed. 6/14/2006 1:21:15 PM |

Really? Wow. I guess our bodies feel things differently. I get bitten by fire ants down here in Georgia all the time (part of my work is in agricultural fields) and they don't hurt nearly as much as a bee sting. I've only ever been stung by yellow jackets though. 6/14/2006 1:31:08 PM |

ive only been hit by wasps, jackets, and honeybees, japanese hornet stings are supposed to be unbearable. also, i should add that ive never been bitten by just one ant, its always been an ass load @ one time, so that might have something to do with my opinion. 6/14/2006 1:34:58 PM |

i'm thinking ant, maybe fire ant. they didn't hurt until the day after. swelling has gone down, still can't bend my toes. and bee stings hurt a lot worse than this did, in my opinion. 6/14/2006 1:35:17 PM |

the not being able to bend your toes thing is weird. it sounds like whatever it is, you had an overly severe reaction to it. if it's that bad you should get an allergy test to find out what it was, b/c if you happen to get bit/stung by the same thing in the throat area, it sounds like you'd be in bad shape. 6/14/2006 1:38:18 PM |

Yeah def get it checked out if your reaction was that bad. You might have some sort of hypersensitive response. 6/14/2006 1:54:40 PM |
