Its the canes vs. the oilers

For ratings it sucks, especially coming off last years no-season.

I propose a tourny with the original 6 to get everyone back watching hockey. That'd be awesome. Too bad these guys fucking jet as soon as the season's over.

the people who would care to see a tourney with the original six are already watching the finals

i'd say its a good thing that a team with such little fan support is in, that's how you get people interested in hockey

no one would give a fuck about the canes if they weren't in the finals

The ratings for the games broadcast are basically on par with the ratings that ABC got in 2004 with a similar matchup between a non-traditional market team and a Canadian team. That's to say that they're still not very good, but at least the sport didn't take a step back.

You seriously want to include Chicago? Why?

Bettman might not like the fact that his finals are Canes-Oilers. But guess what, he wanted his salary cap, he got his salary cap, now he has to live with its bad effects. It's good for the Carolina Hurricanes and its fans, but it sucks for fan interest and future revenue based off that interest.

We're bandwagoning man. No one around here cared about the Canes in 2003 or 2004 after our 2002 Stanley Cup run. Any city, even Miami, could care about hockey if their team were in the finals. The strength of a league though is how many people watch when their team's not in it.
