hey, i'm looking to buy an ipod to organize my music (and because i want to be cool), but my computer at home is older than dirt, so i don't know if i'll be able to use it to put music on the thing. it has the original usb, not 2.0. so i tried to check into using itunes on a school computer, but when i tried to install it on a mac, it told me that it couldn't install because the foler "itunes" is missing, and it should be in the "music" folder. didn't see it there either, so tried to create this folder, but it wouldn't let me.....

anyone have any advice?

iTunes needs windows XP or 2000, it won't run in 98. You seriously may want to look into getting a new computer before you buy an iPod. Or just head to the apple store and get your free ipod with the computer.

Really? I always thought Windows 98 was kind of the virus version of the roach motel. The viruses get in, but since you have to reformat a Windows 98 system once every 20 minutes, they don't get back out.

im still running a 500MHz CPU that I got back in 99.

Just throw a new OS on your system, and while it will still be slow, it will work fine.

i only use my computer for email, internet, word, powerpoint, and music....and its fine for that.

I took the doing as a verb, that way, it would be a complete sentence.

My computer died last year and all I could afford was an eMachine. I put a decent graphics card in it and it has fulfilled all of my gaming needs as well as various other applications. I haven't had any trouble from it.
