Bill O'Reilly on how to bring peace and freedom to Iraq:

Quote :
"See, if I'm president, I've got probably another 50-60,000 with orders to shoot on sight anybody violating curfews. Shoot 'em on sight. That's me. President O'Reilly, curfew in Ramadi, 7 o'clock at night. You're on the street, you're dead. I shoot you right between the eyes. OK?

That's how I'd run that country -- just like Saddam ran it."

It's so great that Iraq has been liberated from that horrible tyrant Saddam. 2,500 dead soldiers and counting, all for less than nothing.....

Wake me up when you have footage of O'Reilly NOT being horrible at life. That's postworthy.

When was Bill O'Reilly elected president? Oh that's right, he just a shock journalist and your dumb ass reacts to him just as he needs you too in order to get a check.

And frankly, Jerry Garcia was a good man for the most part. You are an embarassment to his good name.

I was wondering how long it would take you to celebrate the latest milestone. I lost the bet, you were too slow

^ Who's celebrating? Aside from some small amount of Schadenfreude at the sight of America getting itself bogged down in its great imperialist crusade, I'm not really happy that 2,500 soldiers had their lives pissed away for nothing. I'm sure those two blokes who were captured, tortured, and beheaded probably had reason to reflect upon the wisdom of their career choices. But I'm not happy that their lives ended that way.

yeah and mediamatters.org is a lot more middle of the road than fox news...its not like they're essentially the same radical viewpoints on different sides of the political spectrum

I've yet to see anything remotely conservative posted from mediamatters, on the other hand I've heard Heanity's lackey spout liberal tripe on Fox before. Also, on the sunday morning news they have that token liberal dude. Does media matters have a token conservative?

i doubt it, considering if you click the 'About Us' link or whatever on their page their whole mission statement is to debunk conservative news stories

I watch Hannity and Colmes sometimes late night before sleep...its pretty good because they do have a pretty clear cut Republican and a pretty clear cut Democrat who both get to question their guests

I dont know JerryGarcia, but apparently he has struck a nerve with you douchebag Bush-supporters. Its much more easy to demonize JerryG than to face the fact that the neo-con crusade is failing miserably.

yeah you can turn this thread into circle jerk for Rumsfeld, spinning the issue into the fallacy of false patriotism and blind fear... but the fact is, none of you can answer the question:

pwrstrkdf250: why aren't you in Iraq fighting for what you believe, instead of running your fat mouth, like every pussy piece of shit chickenhawk neo-con in the Bush Administration you worship?

TreeTwista10: why aren't you in Iraq fighting for what you believe, instead of running your fat mouth, like every pussy piece of shit chickenhawk neo-con in the Bush Administration you worship?

Hey asshole, I don't agree with our execution in Iraq either -- but even if I agreed 100% why should I go fight there? This is why we have a volunteer military. The people that actually want to fight go and fight. That doesn't preclude people who don't want to fight from not doing it. We're not forcing anybody to go there.

joe_schmoe: Why aren't you out joining the fire department and fighting fires? Why aren't you out on the police force fighting crime? Do you support fires and street crime? Oh no, it's McDanger! Whatever lame, half-assed point I was trying to make just got crammed up my ass again!

Seriously dude. We have a volunteer military that we pay for with tax dollars. Why does supporting an unpopular military compaign mean the supporter should enlist? We have plenty of people already willing to enlist. Besides, you realize that many people that enlist aren't ground-pounders, right? If I joined the military, they'd probably have me working on the computers or some shit.

Probably the same reason we allow you people on teh L3ft to comment on tax policy without paying anything meaningful in taxes.

It's a fair trade though: I'll happily stop talking about Iraq, if you stop talking about everything else...

TreeTwista10: How dare you attack the integrity of joe_schmoe! Why he's a fine, upstanding citizen full of principle and virtue! Big difference. Peace protest are against war and LOSS OF LIFE. You are advocating putting people in the line of fire for a cause YOU believe in. If you believe in freedom for the Iraqis and that the country would be in so much danger if Iraq fails, then why not join up and help the cause?
I and many others donot believe in such things, therefore have no reason to fight.

I don't think the vast majority of our current military personnel have a personal reason to fight in Iraq. They do it because they signed a contract and the pay is fairly good for their level of expertise. Many of them simply like the army culture.

Our military is large enough -- now don't confuse me with a war supporter, because I'm not, but this stupid argument has to stop.

hey a bus was bombed in Sri Lanka yesterday/this morning killing 58 people

if all you democrats care so much about human rights then why dont you do something about them

but i forgot, you'd rather put our enemies on a higher pedestal than american citizens
